** Open Automation Challenge 2016 is organized by Kalycito Infotech Private Limited, Coimbatore, India in partnership with Ethernet POWERLINK Standardization Group (EPSG), Germany and Automation Industry Association (AIA).

** We are now inviting students to learn, explore, innovate and re-invent themselves as engineers and get ready for an exciting career in their core field of engineering. We are interested in nurturing and supporting young minds to play their part in engineering for a better tomorrow.
** The contest revolves around open source technologies like openPOWERLINK that spans across multiple branches of engineering. Students who are able to improve, innovate and demonstrate new use cases on the above mentioned technologies can win cash prizes, internship and job opportunities*.
About openPOWERLINK:
openPOWERLINK is a technology used to network industrial robots, motors, drives and IO systems. All software resources are available as open source and runs on standard Linux computers.
Rules and regulations:
** The team shall consist of a maximum of 3 members
** The contest is only for engineering students who will be in final year of engineering in academic year 2016-2017
** Team members may belong to different departments from different academic institutions also, provided proofs of eligibility are submitted individually
** Proofs of eligibility to participate from the institution should be submitted (E.g. Bonafide Certificate)
** The unique industry rule: The team’s entry shall be treated valid only if the project utilizes the free resources for solving a practical problem faced by an industry as a real life project.
** A proof of acceptance certificate shall be obtained from the industry in which it is implemented.
Rounds:
Abstract Submission:
** “Solution abstract” and “proof of willingness to adopt the solution” shall be submitted to contests@kalycito.com by 04-April-2016
** Shortlisted abstracts shall be intimated via e-mail
Mini Project:
** The mini-project shall focus on achieving a working tabletop prototype of the solution outlined in the abstract
** The participants shall finish and submit their project report, along with a video demonstrating the project/use case.
** The participants may upload the video in YouTube and the link be included in the project report on or before 15-July-2016
Final Year Project:
** The final year project shall focus on converting the table top prototype into a real life project in an actual industry before 15-Mar-2017
** The team may be asked to show a live or a video demo of their implementation during the evaluation process
** The teams entering the last five shall be invited to Kalycito for a final round of interview before a winner is announced
Evaluation criteria:
** The ideas shall be evaluated based on innovation and originality in its applicable areas including technical solution, implementation or commercialization
** The implementation shall showcase the use of openPOWERLINK and its associated resources in achieving the technical result. The implementation shall also showcase the specific advantages of POWERLINK over the other options available in achieving such a result
Prize:
** There shall be three cash prizes – first, second and third – for a total of Rs 1 Lakh!
** The quantum of cash split between first, second and third prizes shall be at the discretion of the evaluation panel
** All participants clearing the first round shall be issued a participation certificate

** All contestants will be allowed to become the member of the Linkedin group “Open Automation Challenge 2016”
** This group will be used to answer all the queries related to the contest
