Extempore Speech Contest 2016:
** Applications are invited from the interested students of University of Kashmir and affiliated / constituent colleges for participation in an Inter College / Departmental Extempore Speech Contest to be held on 30th May 2016 at Gandhi Bhawan. Maximum two students from each Department / Institute / College can participate in the competition.

** Interested students can download the registration form and forward the same duly attested by Head / Director / Principal of the Department / Institute / College to dsw@uok.edu.in and cc to shahidkhandsw@gmail.com or send the hard copies of the same to Department of Students Welfare, University of Kashmir.
** Kindly feel free to call us for any further queries at 9419087200 hence helping us to organize the event in a befitting manner. All participants are requested to report at the reception desk set up for the competition at Gandhi Bhawan by 10 am on the date of the competition.
Format of the Competition:
Each participant will be given maximum of five minutes to speak extempore on a topic picked up by him or her. Minimum time limit will be 4 minutes. Bunch of the topics will be given to select any one randomly. He/she will be given 30 seconds prior to the speech to think over the topic
Rules:
1. Participant has to speak only in English;
2. Maximum time limit for think over the topic will be 30 seconds and maximum time for speech will be 5 minutes only;
3. The participant will be allowed to select the topic maximum twice. In case he or she decides to select the topic second time then he or she will not be allowed to take up the first topic and he / she will be given only 15 seconds prior to the speech to think over the topic;
4. Participant will not be allowed to take any paper or material with him or her during the speech
Judging Criteria:
Participants will be judged on the following criteria:
1. Content
2. Appropriateness and Correctness of language
3. Delivery
4. Diction
5. In case of a tie, the winner will be decided by the panel of judges by mutual discussion.

Registration form will be available online only till 25th May 2016. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis Only Bonafide Full time Regular Students below the age of 25 years are eligible for the Competition
