Make Our Surat City Smart :

** Brief Note on “Co-creation through an extensive consultation by involving citizens in the design of area based development” through competition “Make Our Surat City Smart”.

** On the occasion of first anniversary of “Smart City Mission” on 25 June, 2016, Surat Smart City has launched a competition for citizens including students, professionals, architects and engineers etc for incorporating their useful suggestions for retrofitting in smart city project component of “Visual Improvement in Area”.

** Citizens Engagement is the base of four pillars of institutional, physical, social and economic infrastructure for comprehensive development as per Smart City Mission guidelines and therefore Citizens Engagement tool is extensively used to know the suggestions / feedback from citizens through various methods including government website www.MyGov.in.

** Based on suggestions/ feedback received during Citizens Engagement in the first round of smart cities challenge during the preparation of smart City Proposal (SCP) for Surat city, “Retrofitting” is selected for Area Based Development in Smart city.
** For Area Based Development (ABD), an area measuring 2167 acres (8.77 Sq.km) of 7 T.P. schemes in the Anjana, Umarwada, Magob, Dumbhal & Parvat located in East & South-East zone of city is selected for retrofitting in Smart City Proposal.

** Present population of this area is about 5 Lacs apart from about 1 Lac floating population. Significance of this area can be judged from the fact that about 10% population of city resides in the selected 3% area which contributes to about 16% of economy of city.

** As per guideline, given by MoUD, total 3 components of “Retrofitting-Area Based Development” are selected for separate contest of visual improvement in area by incorporating useful suggestions from citizens.
** For this purpose, following components are selected for contest. Audit Survey of existing condition of all these components was completed with assistance from MoUD team visit to city during 17 to 19 June, 2016.

Street & Junction:
Street between Archna Vidyalaya though Shyamaprasad Mukharjee Circle up to Aayimata Circle in East zone and from Aayimata Circle through Kabutar Circle through Dumbhal Fire station and up to khadi in South-east zone. Junction at Four Road junction behind Millennium Textile Market, near Multilevel parking of Surat Municipal Corporation in TP-7 (Anjana) & TP-8 (Umarwada) boundary.
