National Level Triple Competitions 2015:
The Concept:
Justice is one of the primary cardinal virtues of humans. According to Cornel West, a philosopher, “justice is what love looks like in public”. Human life on this earth has flourished because of the love it holds. As we continue to march ahead in life, longing for a better tomorrow, a better world, we want it to be filled with love, and a concrete expression of this love is JUSTICE.
An unjust and unfair world is what we seem to be encountering today- poverty, slavery, trafficking, corruption, marginalization, exclusion, oppression, homicide, communalism, etc. Yet, we believe, that these situations can change if the idea of justice is taken seriously. Justice demands awareness and responsibility. Helen Keller remarked thus: “Until the great mass of the people shall be filled with the sense of responsibility for each other’s welfare, social justice can never be attained”.
Is justice a utopia? Or is it possible to have a just world? How do we conceptualize justice, moving away from the stereotype thinking of justice as mere revenge? Are there other models of justice that can be realized today?
The Triple competitions of short essay, short film, and short story, are focussed on generating new ideas on justice, especially from young minds.
