The schools may conduct activities to sensitize the students for the preservation of Ozone Layer.

Theme: “Ozone and Climate: Restored by a world united”

Some activities suggested are :
For Class VI:
** Slogan writing.
** Essay writing on ‘How can we make our atmosphere healthy’.

For Class VII:
** Poster making on ‘Ozone, a natural umbrella’.
** In olden times, when air-conditioners were not so common, people adopted various ways / methods for keeping their houses cool. Explore about such methods and find out their relevance in the present time.

For Class VIII:
** Organizing a debate on ‘Desert Cooler is a better option than air – conditioner for summer’
** Collect information about Hydroflourocarbons (HFCs) and their impact on Global Warming.

For Classes XI – XII:
Report writing on ‘Global warming – its causes and impact’ and presenting the same through Power Point Presentation.

The activities may be conducted in the schools by the end of September and the reports with respect to the celebration of International Day for the preservation of the Ozone Layer may be sent through e-mail to cbseactivity@gmail.com by 15th October, 2016.

International Ozone Day :
** Ozone is a colourless gas with most of its part present in stratosphere. We all are aware of its importance in protecting us from harmful ultraviolet radiations emitted by the Sun.

** We should also make ourselves and our fellow citizens aware about its depletion that is caused due to various substances like chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).

** Its preservation has become an issue of great concern worldwide. The United Nations General Assembly designated September 16th as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.

** This day is observed to create awareness about the importance of ozone layer for us and for the environment. The theme for the celebration of the anniversary is supported by the slogan, “Working towards reducing global – warming HFCs under the Montreal Protocol”
