The Rostrum Essay Competition, 2015 :
RostrumLegal.Com is proud to announce the third edition of the Rostrum Essay Competition. The aim of the competition is to promote original legal writing and research work.
Are you passionate about Legal Research and Writing? If yes then put pen to paper and get ready to participate! There is no specific theme for this year’s completion. Participants can write on any topic of their interest from the field of law. We encourage all the participants to be creative and innovative in how they express their arguments in the essay.
The competition has received an incredible response in the past two years, we have received 500+ abstracts and 100+ essays by participants from all around the world.
Who can participate?
The competition is open to all undergraduate law students and postgraduate law students pursuing Master of Laws or an equivalent masters degree in law.
How to participate?
Step 1: Submit your abstract by email
Step 2: Register online if abstract is selected for participation
Step 3: Submit your essay along with copyright agreement by email
Important Dates :
October 25, 2015 – Last day for abstract submission by email. (Submit by 23:59 Indian Standard Time)
November 1, 2015 – Results: Release of abstract selection list. (16:00 Hrs. Indian Standard Time)
November 8, 2015 – Last day for online registration (Register by 23:59 Indian Standard Time)
December 20, 2015 – Last day for submission of essays by email. (Submit by 23:59 Indian Standard Time)
Submission and Contact Details :
Send your abstracts to essay@rostrumlegal.in. Provide your name, phone number, name of college/ university and you address of correspondence in the body of the email. Please do not use this email id for posting queries.

Awards and Prizes :
1st Prize – Rs. 20000 Cash
2nd Prize – Rs. 15000 Cash
3rd Prize – Rs. 10000 Cash
Rank 4th to 13th – Rs. 1000 Cash for each participant.
Essay of all the participants ranked 1st to 13th will be published in our online journal – Rostrum’s Law Review, ISSN: 2321 – 3787
Participation certificates will be awarded to all the students selected for the submission of essays for the competition.
All the participants submitting abstracts for the competition will receive a RostrumLegal.Com gift voucher worth Rs. 2000 each.
Selection Criteria :
The abstracts and essays will be selected keeping in mind the following criterion:
1. How dynamic, contemporary is the topic.
2. The quality of arguments made.
3. Referencing and citation of the legal authorities.
4. How focused the approach to discuss the issues in the essay.
5. Manner of organizing the content.

Submission Guidelines :
The abstract should not exceed 600 words. The world limit for essay is 6000 words (Including Footnotes and References). All the submissions shall be made in .doc or .docx format.
Participants can write on ANY TOPIC ON LAW of their interest.
Co-Authorship is NOT allowed.
Further guidelines for citation and submission will be emailed to the selected participants after registration.
Registration and Fees :
Participants whose abstracts are selected are required to register for the competition. Registration can be done online by filling up the form and by online payment of registration fee.
The registration fee for this edition of competition is Rs. 1300 (One Thousand Three Hundred Rupees Only). Registration fee waiver will be provided to few selected participants. Contact Us to know more about the waiver and registration process.
Note: Waiver is usually granted to few selected participants whose abstracts are accepted for participation on the basis of merit and quality of the submitted abstracts.
Terms & Conditions :
1. The eligibility criteria and the Last Dates shall be strictly followed. The submissions not adhering to any of these shall be rejected without any explanation.
2. We follow a strict policy on Academic fairness and plagiarism. The essay and abstract must be original work of the author and must not have been previously published.
3. The author will retain the copyright of the work but agrees to grant the exclusive publication rights of the essay and the abstract to Rostrumlegal.com
4. The cash prizes will be disbursed in Indian National Rupees.
5. The organizers reserve the right to amend the rules of the competition at any point of time during the competition. Participants will be notified about the same by email.
