About :
The Straits Times Run turns five in 2017. And to mark the milestone this year, we’re teaming up with the biggest run in town – The Standard Chartered Marathon – to offer runners exclusive privileges.
The tie-up was conceived with you, the runners, in mind. With so many running events out there, how does one pick and choose which runs to go for each year?
Well, here’s where we hope we can help make your decision a little easier.
We’ve come up with an eight-month training programme to help you tackle not only the 18.45km category at the ST Run in the City in July, but also either the half or full marathon at the SCMS in December.
Mok Ying Ren, the 2013 SEA Games marathon champion, will be heading the programme, which will also include tips and clinics from other running and medical experts. He will help helm a weekly training programme in The Straits Times.
In addition, an incentive will also be given to this year’s ST Run participants who sign up for either the half or full marathon at December’s SCMS.
The ST Run has come a long way since our humble beginnings in 2013 when we were the first to bring a run to the scenic Punggol Waterway. In 2014, we were the first run to finish under the iconic dome of the new National Stadium.
Last year, we brought a touch of Formula One to the run by partnering the Singapore Grand Prix. Participants got to finish with the famed chequered flag waving them on while the post-race carnival featured many F1-related activities.
