TNNLS –CCI National Moot Court Competition :
Rules &Regulations :
** These rules shall be the official rules for the TNNLS – CCI National Moot Court Competition (“the Competition”).

** The Moot Court Committee along with the designated Faculties-in-charge of TNNLS shall be the “Organizers”. The Competition shall be conducted in accordance with these rules, and all teams and participants shall be presumed to have read and understood these rules.
1. Eligibility :
a) Only students pursuing their LL.B. Degree in the 5 Year or 3 year law course are eligible to participate in the Competition.
b) Only one team (comprising of 2 speakers and 1 researcher or 2 speakers only) from each institution shall be allowed to participate in the Competition.
2. Language :
a) The Competition Shall be Conducted in English Only.
3. Registration :
a) Registration for the Competition opens on 2nd November, 2017 and shall close by 11:59 PM, 30th November, 2017.
b) Teams have to register by sending an e-mail to tnnls.mcc AT gmail.com with the subject as “Registration- *Name of the Institution*”.
c) A Demand Draft of Rs 3,000 drawn in favour of „The Registrar, Tamil Nadu National Law School** shall be sent to the following address:

d) The email must contain details of the team composition, scanned copy of demand draft as well as scanned copy of the registration form.
e) The last date for receipt of the hard copy of the Demand Draft is 7th December 2017.
f) A unique Team Code will be assigned to each team after the registrations for the Competition have been completed.
4. Release of Problem and Clarifications :
a) The Moot Problem released on 14th November, 2017.
b) Clarifications regarding the Moot Problem can be sought till 11:59 PM, 2nd December, 2017; via an email to tnnls.mcc AT gmail.com with the subject as “NMCC 2018 Clarifications”.
5. Memorial Rules :
a) Each participating team is required to prepare a memorial for each party to the dispute with the following mandatory heads
Cover Page- containing :
i. The Team Code in the upper right corner of each memorial
ii. The name of the forum resolving the dispute
iii. The name of the Competition
iv. The Cause Title
v. The party for which the memorial is prepared
** Table of Contents
** Index of Authorities
** Statement of Jurisdiction
** Statement of Facts (not exceeding 2 pages)
** Issues Raised
** Summary of Arguments (not exceeding 2 pages)
** Arguments Advanced (not exceeding 12 pages)
** Final Submission/Prayer (not exceeding 1 page)
b) The memorials should not contain any identification apart from the team code allotted. If any discrepancy or any attempt to disclose identity by any team or individual participant is noticed by the organizers, the registration of the participant shall be cancelled.
c) Formatting Specifications :
Font Type: Times New Roman
Font Size: 12; size 10 for Footnotes alone
Line Spacing: 1.5; single spacing for Footnotes alone
Margins: 1 inch on each side.
d) Authorities in the memorial shall be cited using footnotes following the Harvard Bluebook 19th Edition. Explanatory or illustrative footnotes are not allowed.
e) Last Dates for Memorial Submission :
Soft Copy: 11:59 PM, 30th December, 2017
Hard Copy: 22nd January, 2018
f) Format for Memorial Submission :
Soft Copy :
(a) Memorial for both sides shall be sent to tnnls.mcc AT gmail.com with the subject “*Team Code* – Memorial Submission”.
(b) The Memorials shall be submitted ONLY in pdf format. Memorials submitted in Word format will be considered as not submitted.
(c) The Memorials (the PDF files) should be named only in the following manner: For example, T20 Respondents (Team code followed by the side)
Hard Copy :
(a) All teams must submit five copies of both sides of their memorials.
(b) The memorials must be printed on both the sides of the paper.
(b) The Cover Sheet shall be in Blue color for the Plaintiff/Petitioner Memorial and in Red color for the Defendant/Respondent Memorial.
g) Evaluation of Memorials :
** The maximum score for each memorial shall be 100 marks.
The memorials shall be evaluated on the following criteria:
i. Knowledge, Interpretation and application of law – 25 Marks
ii. Framing of issue and formulation of arguments – 25 Marks
iii. Application of facts – 25 Marks
iv. Use of Authorities and Precedents – 15 Marks
v. Presentation, Language and Grammar – 10 Marks
