‘Light & Life’ Student Competition 2015:
Light plays a vital role in our daily life and is important cutting across various disciplines of science. Light science and light based technologies have revolutionized the modern world in a number of sectors such as health, communication, energy and so on. Realising the contributions of light science and applications to today’s society, UNESCO has declared the Year 2015 as “International Year of Light and Light based Technologies (IYL2015)” on account of completion of 1000 years of Light Science Research.

The Crystal Growth and Nanoscience Research Center, Department of Physics, Government College (A), Rajahmundry with the financial support from HANSA SOLUTIONS PVT.Ltd. HYDERABAD, is organizing a one day student competition to celebrate IYL 2015 on 19th November 2015. The best PPT/Poster presentations in the student groups will be given three different cash prizes. The competition is aimed primarily at illuminating the all young UG/ PG students of Physics thereby motivating them towards the fascinating world of light science and light based technologies.

Eligibility Criteria:
All under Graduates, Post Graduate students of Physics & Chemistry and I Year Engineering Students in East & West Godavari, Krishna Districts are eligible to participate in the competition. The names of the students may be forwarded by the college or sent directly by the students. The registration form is given along with this brochure. Students can also e-mail the details in the same format to the ID mention.

Rules Of Participation:
In order to encourage group work, it has been planned that the students need to participate only in groups. The groups can comprise a minimum of two members and a maximum of three.

(1) Adventures in Light Science and its Applications
(2) LEDs(Light Emitting Devices)
(3) LASER and Luminescent Materials
(4) Light Harvesting Materials
