Sardar Gurcharan Singh Memorial 1st State Level Science Quiz Competition :

Sardar Bhagwan Singh Post Graduate Institute of Biomedical Science and Research, Balawala, Dehradun is a leading Institute established in the year 1994 and at present offering 11 programmes in UG and PG in several streams of Biological, Pharmaceutical and Medical sciences.

Competition Date : December 04, 2015

The due credence and emphasis laid on teaching and research for which we have state-of-art facilities, infrastructure and qualified faculty in all streams.

The Institute initiates, supports, promotes and coordinates various science based programmes with an objective of creating an awareness of science among youths and to foster technology solutions to the problems faced by the society. Taking forward the legacy of the Institute, creating awareness of science and also to create competitiveness amongst science students towards their professional growth, Institute is organizing the Sardar Gurcharan Singh Memorial 1st State Level Science Quiz Competition on 4th December, 2015 in the premises of the Institute.

The Quiz comprises three rounds namely, First round is a written test at the respective schools of the district under the supervision of the School Superintendent/Senior Science Teacher. The honorarium for the officials of the test will be borne by the SBSPGI, Balawala, Dehradun. Top four students comprising of the two teams from every school will be selected for the Second round of the Written Quiz Competition followed by third round at SBSPGI (Oral Quiz) on 4th December, 2015.

Awards and honors will be given in the memory of Late Sardar Gurcharan Singh Ji, Founder Director of the Institute. Students figuring in the list of top 100 students will be awarded the Certificate of Merit We cordially extend our invitation to your school to participate in this competition. For your perusal, details of the registration, rule & regulations for the competition are enclosed herewith. There is no registration fee for the competition. A line of confirmation of your participation and consent to conduct the written quiz test at your place will be highly appreciated.

Additional General Instructions :

1. Consent for conduction and participation of the respective school for Round I of the Sardar Gurcharan Singh Memorial 1st State Level Science Quiz Competition will be highly appreciated. It can be send online latest by 23rd November, 2015 at our website www.sbspgi.edu.in.
2. On receiving the consent from the schools, the Round I (Written Test) will be conducted in the respective schools under the supervision of School Superintendent/Senior Science Teacher. The honorarium for the officials of the test will be borne by the SBSPGI, Balawala, Dehradun.
3. Extensive Media Coverage of the Competition will done.
4. The participating institute can send a maximum four students comprising of two teams for the second round of the written quiz competition to be held at SBSPGI, Balawala, Dehradun.
5. Second Round (Written Quiz for two teams selected from different schools) and Third Round (Oral Quiz) will be conducted in the Institute Premises on 4th December, 2015.
6. The Written and Oral Quiz will be based on the General Knowledge and Science contents of Class XI and XII level.
7. Medium of Competition will be English.
8. Admission to the Second/Third Round of Competition will be subject to the presentation of a letter of the credentials from the Head of the Institution / Literary Coordinator / Dean Students Welfare certifying the bonafide status of the participants
9. The winners will be awarded the cash prize of Rs. 15000/-, 10000/-, 5000/- for Ist, IInd and IIIrd, respectively. Beside this 10 consolation prizes will also be awarded to the teams standing at consecutive position in Order of Merit.
10. In Written and Oral Quiz, the decision of Quiz Master will be final. No protest or objection with regards to either the decision or the procedure will be entertained.
11. In case of the tie the following criteria will be followed to decide the order of merit.
i) Score in fill in the blanks only will be considered.
ii) Still if the tie persist can be resolved on the basis of draw of lots
12. The host Institute will arrange for the boarding and lodging of the out station teams free of charge from the evening of 3rd December, 2015 to the evening of 4th December, 2015.
13. Participants may be accompanied by a Teacher-in-charge. The Incharge will be the guest of the host Institute and will be accorded the usual hospitalities.
