The Hindu Young World Quiz

Presenting the 20th edition of the popular The Hindu Young World Quiz, one of the longest running and largest live school quizzes. The quiz would be hosted as always by The Hindu’s resident quizmaster V.V. Ramanan.

Categories

The quiz contest will have two categories

Juniors: Classes 4 to 6.
Seniors: Classes 7 to 9.

Junior session will be happening in the morning session followed by Senior in the afternoon. A team should consist of two members and any number of bonafide teams from a school can take part by registering online and paying a non-refundable fee of Rs. 200 per team. No cross teams allowed.

Registration

Online registrations will be closed two days before the actual event date. Reporting on the day of the event: 8.30 am for Juniors and 12.30 pm for Seniors.

Quiz Details

Quiz Format :
The quiz is general in nature and would be two-tiered: Common written Preliminaries and an on-stage Final for the Top 6 teams (based on the marks scored in the prelims).

Stage Finale:
A maximum of two teams from the same school/ branch of a school can make the final.

Prizes

Top three teams: Trophy + Certificate + Gift; Other finalists: Consolation Shield + Certificate. All entrants will get Participation Certificates and there would be audience prizes too.

General:
** The organiser’s decision on any matter pertaining to the quiz would be final and binding.
** The organisers can amend the eligibility and rules of participation as deemed fit.
** Children of the employees of KSL/THG are not eligible.

About Quiz Master:
** V.V. RAMANAN, your host for 20th edition of The Hindu Young World Quiz, has been fascinated with facts and trivia for as long as he can remember and been quizzing for more than four decades now.
** The resident quizmaster at The Hindu Group, Ramanan conceived the live, multi-city The Hindu Young World Quiz in 2000 and has been hosting it since then.
** An avid quizzer, Ramanan has won many a top prize at myriad types of quizzes across the country.
** He wrote the much-appreciated weekly quiz column for The Hindu Young World for 15 years. He also writes quizzes across other publications from The Hindu Group.
** A regional finalist in BBC’s Mastermind India and part of the expert ‘Triguni’ panel in Kaun Banega Crorepati, Ramanan has helped conduct quizzes at various forums.
** He has authored three books (The Hindu Young World Quiz Book Vol. 1 & 2 and The Penguin India Quiz Book) for the Penguin Group.
** A man of varied interests, Ramanan works as the Deputy Sports Editor of The Hindu.
