International Moot Court Competition :

It gives us immense pleasure to announce that the National Law Institute University, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India (NLIU, Bhopal) is organising the 1st NLIU-Justice R.K. Tankha International Moot Court Competition, 2016 from 26th February to 28th February, 2016 in the fond memory of Late Justice R.K. Tankha.

Registration Last Date : 15th January 2016

Previously, the national edition of the NLIU-Justice R. K. Tankha National Moot Court Competition has gained repute as a moot which guaranteed quality competition and insightful judging throughout the 5 editions that have been organized till the last academic session. The quality of participation has encouraged us to base the competition on International Law and invite international participation.

Interpretation :
The interpretation placed upon these Rules by the Administrators shall be conclusive. The decision of the Administrators regarding the application of these Rules shall be final. In case of any dispute, the decision of the Administrators shall be final.

Participation & Eligibility :
** All law schools, faculties of law and other institutions offering a law-related degree program are eligible to participate in the Competition. Each participating institution shall send only one Team to the Competition. Team members must be bona fide students of the institution they are representing.
** A Team can have a minimum of two members and a maximum of three members. Each team must have a minimum of two Speakers. Each team must specify the two team members who would be speaking in a round, prior to the commencement of that particular round. A Speaker would be eligible for the individual speaker prizes only if he/she has presented oral arguments on behalf of the Claimant and the Respondent at least once during the Preliminary Rounds.
** Once registered, a Team shall not be permitted to vary the composition of the team in any manner. Changes, if any, may only be made with the express permission of the Administrators (at their discretion), if a substantial reason is shown for the such variation. The Administrators reserve the right to disbar any team from participating in the Moot

Registration :

Each Team must register for the Moot by completing the Registration Form before 15th January 2016. For national teams, the Registration Fee for the Moot is to be paid through a Demand Draft in the name of ‘The Director, National Law Institute University, Bhopal’ payable at Bhopal. Teams are required to email a scanned copy of the Demand Draft and the Registration Form to mca.nliu@gmail.com latest by 15th January 2016. Registration fee for the moot is Rs.1500 per team.

International teams are required to wire transfer the amount to the following Bank Account:

Transport & Accommodation :
Accommodation will be provided to all the teams. For any additional members of any team the host university will not be responsible for his/her accommodation. Accommodation will be provided from 8:00 a.m., 26th February, 2016 till 10:00 a.m., 29th February, 2015. Teams arriving before 26th and staying after 29th will have to arrange for their accommodation themselves.

Conveyance will be provided to all the teams from the Station/Airport on their arrival to the accommodation. Please note that this will only be done from 6:00 a.m., 26th February 2016, onwards. Additionally, no pick-up can be provided to any team which arrives between 11:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. So teams are advised to plan their travel accordingly. Conveyance will be provided to all the teams to and from the university to the accommodation. No conveyance shall be provided under any circumstance for dropping any team to the Station/Airport. Teams must send scanned copies of their travel plans along with the registration form. Food for all the days of the competition will be provided to all the teams.

Awards & Prize Money :
The awards and the prize money are as follows:
** Winning Team Award: The winning team will receive a trophy and a prize of Rs. 1,10,000.
** Runners – up Award: The 1st runners up will get a trophy and a prize of Rs. 50,000.
** Best Oralist: The best oralist in the preliminary round will get trophy and prize of Rs. 30,000.
** Best Memorial-Claimant: The team with best Claimant memorial will receive trophy and a prize of Rs. 15,000.
** Best Memorial-Respondent: The team with best Respondent memorial will receive trophy and a prize of Rs. 15,000.
** Best International Team: The Best participating team from outside India will receive a trophy and a prize of Rs. 30,000. The scores of the Preliminary Rounds will be taken into account to decide this prize.
