What is Assam Deshbhakti Diwas Essay Competition?
Deshbhakti Diwas Essay Competition 2024 is organized by Karimganj College & Information and Public Relations, Printing & Stationery Department Assam. Students who are Classes V to XII and College can participate in the contest. A State Level Committee will select the top three winners for each category. One special prize for entries in each language in all categories Rs 10,000. Last Date of Contest is 30th June 2024.
Categories & Topics of Deshbhakti Diwas Essay Competition
The state level competition will be organised under the following categories amongst the students of schools and colleges of the state;
(a) Students of Classes VI-VIII – Category A
(b) Students of Classes IX-XII – Category B
(c) Students in various graduate programmes – Category C
Topics :
The topics of the essays for the different categories are-
Category A – ‘Tarunram Phukan: His Life and Achievements’
Category B – ‘Role of Tarunram Phukan in India’s Freedom Struggle’
Category C – ‘Contributions of Tarunram Phukan to Assamese Literature’
The maximum word limits for each category are-
Category A- 800 words
Category B- 1000 words
Category C- 1200 words
How to Participate in the Essay Competition?
** Each School/ college shall submit the best essay of different categories to office of the District Commissioners. The last date of submission of the essays from schools/colleges is 30th June 2024.
** Individual submission by students at DC’s office shall not be accepted and it will be the responsibility of the Head Teacher/ Principal of the Schools/Colleges to submit only the best essay for each category from his/her school / college.
** Each District under the Chairmanship of the DC or his/her nominee will have a committee for evaluation of the essays submitted by the schools / colleges with the following members-
1. Addl District Commissioner (i/c Education)
2. District Information and Public Relations Officer – Member Secretary
3. Inspector of Schools,
4. District Elementary Education Officer
5. Two other members (to be nominated by the respective DCs) as subject experts.
In case of absence of DIPRO office in any district, DC will designate the member secretary
** Each District will select three essays as 1st, 2nd and 3rd for each of the above categories. The winners are to be felicitated at the District Level Programme of Deshbhakti Diwas to be held on July 28, 2024 at each District Headquarter.
** The top three essays in each category are to be decided based on the content and quality of the essays. Submissions in all languages are to be considered while selecting the winners in each category. There shall be no separate selections based on language.
** Districts will submit the (3) three best essays for each category (only the 1st prize winners of each category) to the Directorate, Information & Public Relations, Assam on or before 15th July, 2024.
You are hereby requested to take necessary action and –
A. Intimate all schools/ colleges across the state for wide participation in the competition and make it a success.
B. Generate awareness amongst the students, teachers regarding the competition. A poster/ creative will be shared by DIPR, Assam in this connection and you are requested to kindly share it across all respective District Administration social media handles to ensure publicity and maximum participation.
C. Form the district level evaluation committee as mentioned at SL. No. 7 above at the earliest.
D. Districts having offices of the Sub-Divisional Information and Public Relations Officers, all DCs may involve the officials and staff for observation of the event if required.
E. Ensure observation of Deshbhakti Diwas on July 28, 2024 (Sunday) at the district level in consultation with respective DIPROs. A fund of Rs. 40,000 (Rupees Forty Thousand only) has been earmarked for this purpose for each district.
F. Prizes for the winners along with remuneration for judges (if non-official subject experts are engaged) may be adjusted from the above fund.
G. Bills in triplicate duly forwarded by the DCs may be submitted to the O/O DIPR, Assam after completion of the programme. You are requested not to exceed the amount earmarked for the purpose.
Prize of Deshbhakti Diwas Essay Competition
The amount of cash prizes in each category for state level winners are as follows-
i) First Prize – Rs. 50,000.00
ii) Second Prize Rs. 30,000.00
iii) Third Prize Rs. 20,000.00
iv) One special prize for entries in each language in all categories Rs 10,000
** A State Level Committee will select the top three winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd) for each category amongst the best essays submitted by the districts.
** These winners will be felicitated and awarded with cash prizes at the state level programme to be held at Guwahati on 28th July 2024.
