What is ThinkStartup Youth Ideathon?
Youth Ideathon 2024 is Organised by ThinkStartup and Management Entrepreneurship Professional Skills Council (MEPSC) in association with Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE). The YI24 2024 is open to all school students in India This Contest is India’s biggest innovation and entrepreneurship competition designed specifically for school students. Participation in Youth Ideathon 2024 Competition is completely free.
Themes of Youth Ideathon
The Youth Ideathon 2024 shall focus on innovative ideas and entrepreneurship around three key themes, as below:
** Innovation and Entrepreneurship relating to Indian Heritage and Knowledge System
Encourage students to explore India’s rich heritage and traditional knowledge to develop innovative solutions for contemporary challenges.
** Technologies to take India ahead
Empower students to leverage emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Internet of Things (IoT) to address national needs.
** Sustainability (Air, Water, Health, Energy, Education, Poverty)
Challenge students to develop innovative solutions for a sustainable future, focusing on environmental and social issues.
Objectives of Youth Ideathon
The objectives of Youth Ideathon 2024 are as below:
** ** Ignite a passion for innovation and entrepreneurship among young minds.
** ** Encourage students to identify solutions to real-world challenges.
** ** Provide a platform for students to develop critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills in a team
** ** Empower students to translate their ideas into actionable prototypes or saleable products
** ** Recognise efforts of motivated school teachers / mentors and schools who are working behind the scenes to develop entrepreneurship in schools
** ** Nurture high potential student ideas with incubation support
Eligibility of Youth Ideathon
The Youth Ideathon 2024 is open to all school students in India across two categories
Junior: Class 4 to Class 7
Senior: Class 8 to Class 12
Competition Stages of YouthIdeathon
The YouthIdeathon 2024 is a multi-stage competition designed to nurture young innovators
Stage 1 : Ideation and Submission
** Students form teams of 2 to 5 members.
** Brainstorm and develop innovative solutions or business ideas aligned with the chosen theme.
** Submit their ideas through the YI online portal.
Stage 2 : Selection of Top 1500
** A jury of experts will evaluate all submitted entries based on creativity, innovation, and feasibility.
** The top 1500 teams (750 Innovation and 750 Entrepreneurship) will be shortlisted for the next stage.
** All shortlisted teams will receive certificates of participation and teachers/mentors will be recognized.
Stage 3 : The Rs. 1000 Challenge and Knowledge Session
** Each shortlisted team compete for Rs. 1000 Challenge to develop a prototype (Innovation Track) or a minimum viable product (MVP) (Entrepreneurship Track).
** Top 1500 team shall be provided free online workshops on new product development, marketing, and pitching.
** Teams will create a short video pitch showcasing their solution or product on YouTube.
Stage 4 : Selection of Top 500
** A jury will evaluate the video pitches and select the Top 500 teams (250 teams in Innovation track and 250 Teams in Entrepreneurship track).
** A balanced mix of junior and senior teams will be ensured in the Top 500.
** All Top 500 teams will receive certificates and mentors will be recognized.
Stage 5 : The Grand Finale at IIT Delhi
** The Top 100 teams (50 Innovation and 50 Entrepreneurship) will be invited to showcase their solutions or products at a grand finale event at IIT Delhi.
** Teams will present their ideas to a panel of distinguished judges and industry leaders.
** The top 3 teams in each theme for both Junior and Senior categories will be selected for the Progress based Incubation Grant of upto Rs. 100,000/-
Rewards & Recognition of Youth Ideathon
** This YOUTH IDEATHON has become a nationally recognised rewards and recognition platform for school students, teachers and schools.
** The awards are designed to incentivize students as they move to higher level of competition. Further, there are awards for Teachers, Mentors and Schools who are engaged in the furtherance of cause of innovation and entrepreneurship.
The awards are as follows:
Certificates:All participants in Top 1500, Top 500, Top 100, and Top 3 will receive certificates.
Cash Grant of Rs. 1000 to Top 500 Teams for Rs. 1000 Challenge.
Incubation Grant:The top 3 teams in each theme (Innovation & Entrepreneurship) for both Junior and Senior categories will receive a progress-based incubation grant of upto Rs. 100,000 each.
Recognition for Teachers/Mentors:Teachers and mentors who guide students throughout the competition will be recognized at each stage.
School Recognition:Schools with high participation will be awarded trophies based on the number of participating teams (750, 500, and 300 teams).
Mentor Recognition:Mentors who guide a significant number of students (500+, 300-500, 150-300) will receive recognition.

** Onboarding 100 YI Student Ambassadors + 100 YI Teacher Coaches from Top 1000 of YI23 2nd – 5th July 2024
** Inaugural Event + Idea Box Opens 15th July 2024
** Teachers Wednesday 17th July, 24th July, 31st July and 7th Aug 2024
** Founders Friday 19th July, 26th July, 2nd Aug and 9th Aug 2024
** Idea Box Closes 14th Aug 2024
** Publish Top 1000 List 16th Aug 2024
** Stage 2 Submissions – Cut Off 18th Aug 2024
