What is Konkani Lyrics Contest?

Konkani Lyrics Contest 2024 is organized by Konkani World Music. No age limits, so the young and old are most welcome. A maximum of 5 entries are allowed per person as a total of all his/her individual and/or team entries for this contest. An individual may be a member of maximum 3 teams participating in this contest. Prizes for the Top 6 entries will comprise of Trophies, Certificates as well as Cash. Last Date of Contest is 20th August 2024.

Eligibility of Konkani Lyrics Contest

Note the following important points for your participation in this contest.
Entries : FREE Registration till August 20, 2024 for maximum 5 songs of your choice.
Registration Fees – Rs.100/song thereafter.​​
Age : No age limits, so the young and old are most welcome. Special prizes for under-20 participants and “Children with Disabilities”.
Caution For Kids : Our original content here is 100% child-safe but the content of music videos linked here may not be. Please watch those under parental guidance.
Copyrights : Copyrights of all lyrics belong only to respective submitter(s). We have no claim on it. Submitter(s) must ensure that original contributors are credited.
Which Konkani? :
More Konkani dialects in your lyrics = More Points! Create your own new Konkani words & Konkanify words from other languages too.
Main Objective : Create catchy Konkani Lyrics for Global Hits of your choice! Your translation need not be literal but should ideally capture the essence of the original.

How to Participate in the Konkani Lyrics Contest?

02. Choose song(s) from these to translate.
03. Finalize your team (optional).
04. Register participation via this Google Form.
05. Submit your translated lyrics when instructed to.

Terms & Conditions of Konkani Lyrics Contest

** Registration fees are waived off for certain categories of Global Hits (viz. Target Top20, Artists’ Picks!, etc.) and Participants (viz. Children with Disabilities). Details available in our Instagram and Facebook posts.
** A maximum of 5 entries are allowed per person as a total of all his/her individual and/or team entries for this contest.
** A team may comprise of 2-4 people who have actually contributed to the Konkani lyrics submitted for this contest. Do NOT add dummy, non-contributors just to make a team.
** An individual may be a member of maximum 3 teams participating in this contest.

** Since we have special Bonus Prizes for under-20 participants, the age of a participating team will be considered as the average age of all its members in terms of their completed years of age as of the Submission Deadline date of this competition. Should any such “under-20 team” make it to the final stage then each member’s government-issued ID card (ie. Aadhaar, Driving License, Voter, PAN) copy clearing showing the full birthdate and exact same name as in the submitted contest entry will be required before finalizing the winners to confirm their ages to avoid any issues and disputes.

Evaluation Criteria of Konkani Lyrics Contest

The criteria that will be used to evaluate shortlisted entries in this contest are listed below along with Points for each totaling up to 1000 points! Also explained are the permitted Creative Liberties & Responsibilities for your Konkani lyrics. Restrictions listed under the Terms & Conditions section above will play a significant role in your lyrics evaluation by our judges so please do bear those in mind.

Prizes of Konkani Lyrics Contest

Prizes for the Top 6 entries will comprise of Trophies, Certificates as well as Cash as illustrated in the tables below:

 

Notes:
** Note that as per the last table above the Cash prize will be given only to the Top3 entries that score 600 or more points out of the total 1000.
** This is intended to encourage greater quality in the submitted entries in order to respect the priceless personal time and resources that the organizers, judges, advisors and others are contributing for free towards this contest for their love of our beloved Avoi Bhas Konkani.
** So, a Top3 entry that scores 600 points will get 50% of the eligible prize money while the one scoring 900 and above will get 100% of the eligible prize money.
** The rest will get pro-rated cash prize amounts between 50-100% as illustrated for the “WINNER SCORE: 600-900” in the above table.
** Top3 entries with Total Score <600 and remaining Top6 entries will get the Trophies and Certificates as indicated in Table 2 above.
** Cash Prize amount calculations for this contest will be shared publicly in MS Excel online to dispel any doubts and avoid issues.
** Winning teams will have to share their single Trophy and Cash Prize among themselves. However, named certificates will be given for each team member.
** What happens to the unused Cash Prize money if all or some Top3 entries score <600 total points? The balance will simply roll into the Cash Prize kitty for the next iteration of this contest.
** Depending on public interest in this contest as well as the organizing efforts required on our side this competition could happen once or even twice a year.
** We don’t rule out doing it even 4 times (quarterly) in a year but lets see how this first test run goes. So if you don’t clock 600 points this time then just come back next time with better lyrics!
** Lastly, Special Prizes, if any, from our sponsors for specific participant/song categories will be over and beyond those explained above. These will be announced as and when such sponsorships materialize upto the Konkani Lyrics submission deadline.
