What is Mathrubhumi.com Onam Pookkalam Contest?

Onam Pookkalam Contest 2024 is organized by Mathrubhumi.com. Everyone like college students, residents associations, clubs, corporate employees can participate in the competition. Teams of seven people should participate. More than one group from the same organization and association/clubs can participate in the Pookkalam competition. There is no registration fee. The Contest will be held on 7th September 2024.

Eligibility of Onam Pookkalam Contest 2024

** You have to participate in the competition as a team. A team should have only 7 members including the team captain.
** College students, residents associations, clubs and corporate employees can participate in the competition.
** Only pre-registered teams will be allowed to participate in the competition.

Rules of Onam Pookkalam Competition

** The serial number of the field to be planted will be given on the day of participation.
** A code number will be assigned to each team to participate in the competition.
** No competitor’s name or identifying marks are permitted on the field. But names can be placed after judgment.
** Only registered team members will be allowed entry to the flower competition venue.
** Minors are not allowed in the competition hall.
** Each team should report at the Mathrubhumi counter arranged in the hall at the time of reporting Mathrubhumi. Teams arriving more than half an hour late will not be allowed to participate in the match.
** Only three hours are allowed to make the flower bed. (Total time for sketching and coloring).
** The length of the flower bed, which can be arranged in a circular or square shape, should not exceed one and a half meters across.
** Only flowers, leaves, fruits and vegetables should be used for flower beds. Flowers and leaves should be used to make the flower bed.
** The field can be raised using sand or other materials. But the flowers should be arranged in such a way that they should not be seen outside. Each team should bring the necessary materials for this.
** Do not use ready-made flowerbed size sketches for making flowerbeds. Scribbles are allowed by looking at small pictures. Do not use clay or permanent markers.
** Judging will be based on the uniqueness of the flowerbed, beauty of the design, cleanliness of the field, harmony of elements and colors and novelty of the concept.
** The team members will be allowed to change the flowers only after receiving the notice from Mathrubhumi officials.
** The team captain or a person designated by the captain may enter the competition hall during judging. They have to answer questions about flower arrangement.
** Mathrubhumi reserves the right to take photographs of the flower fields and use them later.
** Arrangements can also be arranged with the flower bed. These must be confined to the field allotted to each team.
** The respective team is responsible for the care of the flower bed and accessories till the presentation of the prize.
** Teams not following the above rules will be disqualified.

Prizes of Onam Pookkalam Contest

** The first prize is Rs 50,000.
** The second prize is Rs 30,000.
** The third prize is Rs 20,000.

What is the Date of Onam Pookkalam Contest?

Onam Pookkalam Contest 2024 will be held on 7th September in conjunction with Onam. The match will start at 10 am at Rena Event Hub opposite RBI in Kalur.
