Japanese Language Speech Contest :

The 28th All India Japanese Language Speech Contest will be held on January 16th , 2016 in New Delhi.

H.E. Ambassador of Japan will be the Chief Guest.

Winners of North, South, West and East zones Regional Japanese Language Speech Contests will participate in the All India Japanese Language Speech Contest.

Contest Details :
Date: January 16th, 2016 (Saturday)
Time: 2:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Venue: Auditorium -I

Eligibility :

The following eligibility criteria apply:
** At the zonal contests held in different parts of the country and for final All India contest
** At the time of the Zonel contest the candidate must be an authorized student of a recognized or registered institution ( as defined above) where Japanese Language is taught.

Not Eligible Contestants:
The following students are not eligible to apply:
** Student who has studied Japanese Language for more than 1500 hours or for a total period spread over 5 years or more.
** Student who has studied in Japan for more than 3 months.
** Student who has been or is engaged in the teaching Japanese language in any institution.
** Student whose parents’ or either, wife, husband, mother or father’s native language is Japanese.

Minimum & Maximum Age
: Minimum is 18 and maximum is 35.

Senior & Junior Group Criterion :
Senior Group:
Any eligible candidate (as defined in 2 above) can take part in the senior group.

Junior Group:
Only those eligible candidates (as defined in 2 above) who have studied Japanese Language for less than or equal to 500 (Five Hundred) hours as certified by the nominating Japanese Language Teaching Institution can apply to participate in the Junior Category.

Conditions on First Prize Winners of earlier All India Contest :
** The first prizewinner of a particular year, in either category, cannot participate in the next year’s contest.
** The first prizewinner in the junior category shall not be allowed to participate in the senior category of the contest held next year. However, such candidates are eligible to participate in the subsequent years i.e. after a one-year gap.

The Speech and its Content :
** Candidate can speak on any subject of her/his choice other than politics and religion.
** Duration of speech should not exceed four minutes.
** The content should reflect personal views /thinking and familiarity with the topic.
** The speaker should not reveal her/his name or of the nominating institution in the speech.
** Any candidate who is appearing again (second time) is not allowed to repeat the earlier topic.
** The level of language (vocabulary and idiomatic usage) of the speech should correspond to the contestant’s Japanese language training. (The level of language used will reveal if the candidate is expressing her/his own thoughts spontaneously or from a pre-memorized speech)
** The contestant should not read from a script while delivering the speech.

All interested are cordially invited to attend, encourage the participants and enjoy the speeches. A short cultural programme has also been organized.
