Competition Name : VEX IQ Challenge 2015-16
Applicable Status :All India
Website : http://www.robotevents.com/robot-competitions/vex-iq-challenge
Details :
** The VEX IQ Challenge consists of the VEX IQ Challenge robot game and the optional STEM Research Project.
** The VEX IQ Challenge provides an opportunity for students, with the guidance of an adult mentor, to explore and solve exciting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) challenges.
** Students develop valuable knowledge, skills, and experience and a tremendous sense of accomplishment in building a robot and developing a STEM research project to solve the VEX IQ Challenge.
VEX IQ Challenge Bank Shot :
** Bank Shot is played on a 4’ x 8’ field. In the Teamwork Challenge, an alliance of two robots work together to score points in 60-second matches.
** Teams can also participate in two additional challenges.
** In the Robot Skills Challenge, one robot takes the field to score as many points as possible under driver control.
** In the Programming Skills Challenge, one robot scores as many points as possible autonomously, without any driver control.
The object of the game is to attain the highest score by Emptying Cutouts, Scoring Balls into the Scoring Zone and Goals, and by Parking Robots on the Ramp.
Stem Research Project :
** Each season, one Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subject is the featured theme of the VEX IQ STEM Research Project Challenge.
** This season, the theme is Science.
** Teams can explore how science can be used to solve challenges and make our world a better place.
VEX IQ Challenge :
** The VEX IQ Challenge, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, is a brand new STEM program for elementary and middle school students (ages 8-14).
** Students, with guidance from their teachers and mentors, will build a robot using the VEX IQ robotics platform to solve an engineering challenge that is presented in the form of a game. VEX IQ Challenge teams will work together scoring points in Teamwork Matches, and also display their robot’s skills individually in driver controlled and autonomous Skills Challenges.
** In addition to building robots, the VEX IQ Challenge will encourage students to actively learn about science, technology, engineering and mathematics with a STEM themed research project that consists of a written or media presentation.
** Registration for a VEX IQ Challenge team costs $100. Additional teams from the same schools can register for $50. Tournament entry fees vary by event.
