ACAD A-Clue-A-Day Contest :

A-CLUE-A-DAY (ACAD) is a daily individual cryptic clue solving contest for school children in the country. It is designed to teach them the way to solve cryptic crosswords and hone their skills by daily practice. For young crossword buffs, ACAD is the right forum to begin with.

Why the endeavour?:
Because it has been scientifically proved that solving crosswords improves a person’s analytical abilities and vocabulary. Starting the same at a young age will give a child an edge over others in curricular as well as extra-curricular pursuits. The ACAD contest is a first of its kind opportunity for students to compete with their counterparts all over India and in the process boost their vocabulary, reasoning and wit, and of course, a daily prize too!

How to go about it?:
** One clue is posted online each day on the website crypticsingh.com. This year, it can also be accessed on mobile phones through the ‘ACAD’ app which can be downloaded on Android smartphones and tablets. Students need to register themselves on the website in order to participate in the contest.

** The clues are posted at 3:30 pm each day and entries for the same are accepted till 3 pm the following day. The schedule ensures that it does not disturb the daily routine of school-going children. One among the correct entries is chosen as the Lucky Winner of the day and awarded a gift hamper. The gifts are sent to the respective schools to be handed over to the students.

** The first 100 students who crack the clue every day earn points ranging from 100 to 1, in that order. The cumulative score is upgraded every day and the first 100 students are listed on the Champions’ Gallery (CG) on the website. The leaders of the CG get rewarded every month.

** At the end of the year, and in-between, students with the highest scores would be tested offline and felicitated. It is important, therefore, that the students remain in the contest round-the-year, as points for each day matter. We hope the event brings to the fore young crossword talent in schools across the country.

Terms & Conditions:
** To enter the contest you must be an Indian resident.
** The participants must be school children studying in any class.
** Rounds are not open to employees/members (or members of their immediate families) of EXTRA-C* or any organization concerned with the creation and management of the contest website.
** Only one person is allowed to register with one mobile/cell phone number.
** Sending an e-mail to us, showing willingness to enter in the contest is not an acceptable registration procedure. No responsibility can be accepted for entries that are not received by us for any reason whatsoever.
** The time of posting a clue is as specified each day, and the organizers reserve the right to amend the same.
** If you are chosen as the lucky winner of the day, we will notify you by a telephone call or by e-mail. The judges’ decision will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
** The name of the lucky winner of each day will be posted on the website crypticsingh.com, along with the date for which he/she was selected as the lucky winner.
** By entering into this Contest, the winner agrees to participate in such promotional activity and material as this contest may require.
** The prize is not transferable to another person.
** No part of a prize can be is exchanged for cash or another prize.
** If an advertised prize hamper is not available, we reserve the right to offer an alternative prize hamper of equal or greater value.
** Incorrect entries will not be eligible for the draw of lucky winner.
** Please read our Privacy Policy which tells you how we use any personal information we may collect about you while entering this contest.
** The organizers reserve the right to amend these rules at any time. The organizers may also create rules which will apply to a specific day only. If we do this we will publish the amended contest rules and/or specific contest rules on the relevant contest page.
** The organizers will endeavour to send prizes within a month of the competition end date but cannot guarantee this delivery time.
** All disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of PATNA HIGH COURT only.
