Geography Olympiad :

This Geography Olympiad is intended to supplement the geography instructions students receive in their schools including Indian and world geography and to help them in preparing for higher competitive exams at national and international levels.

Rules:
1. The Geography Olympiad open to children of Classes 2nd to 10th.
2. Younger children of Std. 1st are encouraged to participate, on equal basis, only in the Sub-Junior category
3. The Olympiad will be conducted every year in two Phases. In the Phase I, children will participate at their respective schools throughout the country, during the month of December. In Phase II participants with high scores, based on cut-off will be invited to the National Finals in April.
4. Registration forms would be available in the school. Students who wish to participate needs to contact the teacher in- charge at school. Students should be registered through schools only.
5. The medium of the Olympiad will be English.
6.Phase I is a written test with 50 multiple choice questions. There will be a different question paper, for each category.
7.There will be NO negative point for any incorrect answer. The participant will be awarded one point for the correct answer and zero for an incorrect answer. The duration to complete the test is 1 hour.

There are three categories for Geography Olympiad :
Sub – Junior : Classes 2,3 and 4
Junior : Classes 5,6 and 7
Senior : Classes 8,9 and 10

Student and School Awards:
The contest is conducted every year in two steps. First, children participate in a school level contest, conducted in various states throughout INDIA.

Awards for Participants:
Geography Olympiad at School Level:
** Geography Olympiad Gold Medal (Winner)
** Geography Olympiad Silver Medal (1St Runner-Up)
** Geography Olympiad Bronze Medal (2nd Runner-Up)
** Every participant will receive a certificate of participation. Toppers will be awarded Merit certificate.

Geography Olympiad at National Level:
** Gold Medal & Laptop will be awarded to the Winners
** Silver Medal & Digital camera will be awarded to the 1st Runner-Ups
** Bronze Medal & Watch will be awarded to the 2nd Runner-Ups
** Every participant will receive a certificate of participation. Toppers will be awarded Merit certificate

Awards For School:
Geography Olympiad Trophy
School of each Gold, Silver, Bronze medal winner at the National level will be awarded a Geography Olympiad Trophy

School In-charge Award:
Award for Best School In-charge in each region. All the coordinating teachers for the Geography Olympiad in the school will be awarded Appreciation Certificate.

2016-17 Exam Date & Venue:
Level 1 – Last date for registration is 31st October, 2016. Exam date is 9th December, 2016. Venue: School itself.
Level 2 – (National Finals for selected toppers only) – April, 2017. Venue: Mumbai, Maharashtra.

The level 2 date and venue may change at the discretion of GEO-GENIUS.
