Muse India Young Writer Awards :

Muse India is a leading literary web journal that showcases Indian Writing in English, and regional literatures of India in English translation.

Muse India is happy to announce Muse India – Satish Verma Young Writer Awards 2016 to be given to writers not older than 35 years of age, for outstanding original work in English, or in English translation from any Indian language.

Submissions invited:
** Submissions are now invited from authors and publishers for consideration of the award to be given during Hyderabad Literary Festival 2017 (27-29 Jan 2017). The main objective of the award is to recognize originality and exceptional literary merit in a young writer’s work originality and exceptional literary merit.

** The Awards will be given in two categories – Poetry and Fiction. The award carries a Certificate, a Memento and cash prize of Rs. 10,000 (Rs Ten thousand only) to each winner.
** If the Award goes to a work translated into English, the cash prize of Rs 10,000 will be distributed between the original author (35 or below) and the translator (no age bar).

Eligibility Criteria:
** Entries have to be books published in English only. It can be English translation of an Indian language work. Books published in regional languages should not be submitted.
** Books of any creative literary genre (poetry, short fiction, novel, plays etc) may be submitted for consideration of the award.
** Books published after Sep 1, 2015 (till date) to be submitted.
** Author should be an Indian citizen – Resident or Non-Resident Indian.
** The author (original writer in case of translated work) should be 35 years of age or younger as on the date of publication of the book. Proof of age will be required.
** E-Books published by reputed publishers will also be eligible. However, Hard Copies of the book have to be submitted, along with complete details of the Publisher and their website.
** Self-published books or self-published E-books are not eligible.

The following have to be submitted:
** 3 copies of the book
** Proof of age (Birth certificate, school certificate, passport, diving license etc)
** Bio-note of the author and translator (for translated work), along with photos.

Jury:
A distinguished panel of judges comprising writers and scholars will assess the entries and select the award winners.
