Rules & Regulations of NMIFF 2016:

1) Entries at NMIFF are open to all International, national, and regional films.

2) Film Categories:-
There are 3 categories for entries
(a) Student Shorts

Duration and Sub-categories of films for Student shorts & Professional Shorts categories :
Short Film:- Duration should be 45 minutes or less.
Animation Short :- Duration should be 45 minutes or less.
Documentary:- Duration should be 45 minutes or less.
Social Awareness:- Duration should be 45 minutes or less.

Duration and Sub-categories for Feature Films category:
Fiction:-Duration should be more than 45 minutes.
Feature Documentary:- Duration should be more than 45 minutes.

3) Awards:
NMIFF is a competitive festival with cash awards & trophies in various categories finalized by jury panel.

Winners are requested to claim the awards within 1 month after the completion of the festival event .

4) Subtitles:
Films can be with dialog, silent or without dialog.Films other than in English language, must have English subtitles.

5) Last Dates for submission of films are as follows:
Early bird: Till 31st March 2016
Regular: 1st April – 15th July 2016
Late Last Date: 16th July – 15th August 2016

6) No submission will be considered complete until the non-refundable entry fee has been paid.

Professional Shorts Category:
Early Bird Entry: Rs 2000/- OR US$ 35
Regular Entry: Rs 2200/- OR US$ 37
Late Entry: Rs 2400/- OR US$ 40

Feature Film Category:
Early Bird Entry: Rs 3500/- OR US$ 57
Regular Entry: Rs 3700/- OR US$ 60
Late Entry: Rs 4000/- OR US$ 62

7) Payment of Entry fees :
Participant can pay through any of below options :
a) Online using credit/debit Card:

aa) Pay Through PayPal:- For participants not paying In Indian rupee & not using Indian credit/debit card.You can directly pay using your credit/debit card (You don’t need to create any PayPal account if you do not have one)

ab) Pay Through Payumoney (Secured Payment Gateway):-
For participants paying In Indian rupee & using Indian credit/debit card.You can create payumoney account and pay in few seconds by going to the NMIFF payment link given during submission steps while you are finally submitting your film at “submit film now” tab.

b) Participant can make payment through Cheque / Demand Draft in favor of “NAVI MUMBAI INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL NMIFF” payable at Mumbai. The Cheque/D.D can be sent through courier along with film DVD & press kit or can be deposited locally to the bank account number given in Section (c) below.

8) Submitting Your Film:
Film can be submitted through Online submission platforms FilmFreeway, Festhome, Click for Festivals, Filmfestival life, Uptofest & Movibeta

OR by uploading film online and sending us link,entry form & press kit

OR by post/courier by sending us DVD & emailing entry form and press kit.

Except in case of using submission platforms (Festhome,FilmFreeway etc),below Press Kit items must be E-mailed to- contact@nmiff.in, in order to complete submission:-
** Film Entry Form
** Synopsis of the movie (max 150 words).
** Crew & Cast List including technical team.
** Filmography of Film director.
** 1 Photograph of Director.
** 1 Poster of film in JPEG format (300 dpi, preferably 600 x 900 pixel size,max dimension 1200 pixels)
** Your film’s trailer link not more than 1 minute in duration (Optional, for promotion & publicity purpose)

a) Submit via Online submission platforms ( FilmFreeway, Festhome, Click for Festivals, Filmfestival life, Uptofest & Movibeta ):
You can go to the NMIFF submission link of platforms at “submit film now” tab when you are finally submitting your film.

b) Direct Online Submission:
Step 1- Upload the film on any online platform (e.g. youtube,vimeo etc) and protect it with password,if you want.You will be required to mention the URL of this upload in the form.
Step 2- Pay the appropriate Entry Fee through any available options mentioned above in point 7 of Rules & Regulations. You will find the payment link at “submit film now” tab under “Direct Online Submission”.Please note the reference number or transaction id to mention in the entry form.
Step 3- Go to “submit film now” tab, select direct online submission, fill up “Online Film Entry Form” and click submit button at the bottom of the form.
Step 4- Email us the “FILM PRESS KIT”.

c) Mailing by post/courier :
Step 1- Please download and fill up “FILM ENTRY FORM”.You can either email this form along with press kit or send it by courier along with DVD.You will find the form link at “submit film now” tab and under the header ” Send us film by Post/Courier”.
Step 2- Pay the appropriate Entry fee as mentioned above in point 7 of Rules & Regulations. You will find the payment link under “Send us film by Post/Courier” at “submit film now” tab.Please note the reference number or transaction id to mention in the entry form.
Step 3- E-mail the “FILM PRESS KIT” to- contact@nmiff.in

Step 4- Send by post/courier hard copy of film entry form (If not sent by e-mail) & 1 DVD of the film (PAL or NTSC format) clearly marked below items on DVD :
Film Title ( original and English), Running time (in minutes), format (PAL or NTSC), Director(-s), Country(-ies) of Production, Year of Production, Producer or Production Company’s contact number & Email id.

Please write on the courier / post : “For selection/cultural purposes only, no commercial value”. Please note NMIFF will not pay any postal/customs fees for the DVD of submitted film.

9) Participants can send multiple entries. However, please submit a separate submission form and entry fee for each film.

10) Once the film is shortlisted for festival screening/competition entry,We will ask you to:
a) Send us as soon as possible the publicity material,if required.
b) Send us the screening copy.We will send you the detailed instructions regarding screening format.

11) Once entered, films may not be withdrawn from participation at NMIFF under any circumstances.DVDs and other materials submitted will not be returned.

12) By submitting film to NMIFF, filmmaker/producer/submitter takes the whole responsibility of copyright issues of music, script and other creative and technical aspects of film. He/she accepts the responsibility for the accuracy of the information supplied and authorizes NMIFF to reproduce & use personal/company’s contact information as supplied. The applicant/submitter confirms that he / she has the requisite authority or has obtained the requisite authority from the producer / right holder/concerned authorities to enter, screen and publicize the film in NMIFF and make available the print for screening. NMIFF is not responsible /answerable to any copyright/legal issues regarding submitted film.

13) Notification of selected films will be announced on website/social media platforms as per schedule (tentative date- 30th September 2016) . However, the festival committee reserves the right to change the dates, accept or refuse any film without assigning any reason whatsoever.

14) Filmmakers/delegates of short listed films will be invited to attend the festival.However,the festival will not arrange or reimburse for travel / stay expenses of the participants attending the festival.

15) Festival Organizers, programmers and jury panel shall determine selections and award winners at their sole discretion. Decision of the NMIFF festival authorities regarding all matters not expressly provided for in these rules and regulations or which require interpretation of the clauses mentioned above shall be final and cannot be challenged.

16) Though we will be doing our best efforts & arrangements to screen selected films in topmost commercial quality during the event, we cannot guarantee a commercial cinema hall display or effects, as screening may be held in an auditorium (which is of course designed for world class events).

17) Shipping and Insurance:
All costs relative to the shipment of the film, publicity, promotional and photographic material to and from the NMIFF will be at the expense of the participants.

18) Participants/Production Companies may contact NMIFF for the promotion of the film, their brands/Logo etc during the festival event or online promotions. Please send an email to ” contact@nmiff.in” with subject line as “promotion of our film,Brand/Logo” to get more information and schemes about this.
