#HaveASafeJourney Contest:

These Guidelines may be called the #Have a Safe Journey Short Story Contest Guidelines, 2016 and shall include the clarifications and modifications issued by the Contest Manager from time to time.

Contest Opening Date:
The Contest shall open at 12 pm (IST) on 16th August 2016.

Contest Closing Date:
The Contest shall close on 12 Noon (IST) on 15th October 2016. No Entry shall be accepted after the Contest Closing Date.

Eligibility & Submission:
Following is the eligibility criteria for participation in the Conte
(i) Entrant must be a national of India.
(ii) Entrant must be 15 years or above on the date of submission of Entry.
(iii) Entrant must produce the proof of age and nationality at the time of submission (any government issued ID card such as Voters ID, Driving License, Passport, Aadhaar Card).

Note:
** The Entry should be based on Contest Theme. Entry not based on Contest Theme shall be disqualified. The decision of the Contest Manager shall be final and binding.
** Entry must be original work of the Entrant and should not have been published work or produced anywhere in full or in part. Published work is taken to mean published in any printed, publicly accessible form, e.g. anthology, magazine, newspaper, personal blog, personal website, social networking site.

Evaluation & Selection Crieria:
Pre – Jury:
A Pre-Jury, comprising such number and persons as the Steering Committee may decide and nominate shall evaluate and shortlist short stories from the Entries received for evaluation and selection of by the Jury for the Award.

Jury:
** A Jury comprising such number and persons as the Steering Committee may decide and nominate shall evaluate the shortlisted Entries and select one (1) Entry for the Award.
** The Jury may recommend to the Contest Manager, a story for being presented a recognition prize of INR 10,000.
** The Pre-Jury and Jury shall be guided strictly by the Selection Criteria without being influenced by any other factor.
** The decision of the Pre-Jury and Jury shall be final and binding and no queries, challenge or communication in respect thereto will be entertained.

Selection Criteria:

(i) Entry will be judged by the Pre-Jury and Jury on the following Selection Criteria on a scale of 30 points:
** Language and style- 5
** Elements of story- 5
** Character- 5
** Narrative flow and structure- 5
** Theme- 5
** Setting- 5

(ii) In the event of a split vote, the chair of the jury shall have the casting vote.

Award:
(i) Award includes a certificate and cash prize of INR 50,000.
(ii) Award shall be presented to the winner by cheque/demand draft or transfer in bank account of the winner as the Contest Manager may decide.
(iii) Award is sponsored by M & M.
(iv) Award shall be presented to the winner at a ceremony to be held on such date and at such place as the Steering Committee may decide.
(v) The Contest Manager shall arrange the travel and boarding facility of the winner for participation in the award ceremony.

Publishing of Short Stories:
(i) From the stories shortlisted by Pre-Jury and Jury, the Steering Committee may, in its sole and absolute discretion, select such number of Entries as it may deem appropriate and necessary for inclusion in a book of short stories. The format of the book (digital or print) will be decided by the Steering Committee.
(ii) The selected short stories may also be translated in Hindi.
(iii) Entry, selected and others, may be published on any website or other digital media platform.
(iii) The decision of Steering Committee in matter of selection of short stories will be final and binding.

Termination of Contest:
(i) The Steering Committee reserves the right in its sole and absolute discretion to terminate the Contest at any time without prior notice.
(ii) Neither the Steering Committee nor M & M, NHP Centre or its officers, directors, employees, agents, successors or assigns shall be liable for any warranty, costs, damage, injury or any other claims incurred as a result of termination of the Contest.
