Smartphone Innovation Challenge:

Panasonic’s Innovation contest is an “OPEN INNOVATION” challenge for “technical” students in leading technical schools. Individuals or Teams are free to think creatively and outside-the-box, be innovative and inventive in their approach.

The only requirement being that the innovation (Hardware/Software) must be Smartphone Centric (Android Platform) and shall fall in one of the 5 award categories as mentioned under award categories. Come up with concepts which could simplify existing usage, add more pleasure to mobile phone usage, make them more aesthetic or users friendly, add newer convergence features etc.

Award Categories:
There are 5 Categories you could choose to participate in :
** Artificial Intelligence (AI)
** Internet of Things (IoT)
** Software – UI/UX Customization
** Software – Android Innovative features/App concept to enhance consumer experience
** Hardware – Hardware Innovation in terms of Design or any usable hardware centric feature for smart phones.

Any individual or team can choose to participate in one or multiple categories; subject to a maximum of 3 categories.

Who can participate?:
This challenge is open to all students currently enrolled either full-time or part-time with any of the following institutes:
** IIT Delhi
** DTU Delhi
** NSIT Delhi
** IIT Roorkee

Current staff members of these institutes could choose to be a part of any of the teams. Participants may register as individuals or teams. Teams can be a maximum of 3 persons with maximum one staff member as part of a team. The team needs to designate a team leader. One person can be part of one team only.

Note: There are no entry fees

Timelines:
** Online Registrations and submission of Stage 1: Synopsis 29th Aug till 19th Sept
** Talk Show topic: “Futuristic technologies” at IIT Delhi, DTU Delhi, NSIT Delhi 13th, 15th and 16th Sept
** Stage 1 closes. Once an entry is submitted no alterations or changes would be allowed. 19th Sept
** Evaluation by judge’s team of Stage 1: synopsis and short-listing for Stage 2: Detailed submissions & Upto 10 ideas in each of the 5 categories would be selected for Stage 2: Detailed submissions 19th Sept onwards
** Teams / Individuals of shortlisted ideas published on the website, and intimated for Stage 2:Detailed submissions 24th Sept
Online detailed submissions 25th Sept till 7th Oct
** Detailed submission closes / Competition closes. No alterations or changes would be allowed post the closure date. 7th Oct
Final evaluation by the judging panel Upto 20 teams would be shortlisted for Face-to-face presentations with the judging team 8th Oct onwards
** Online announcements of winners 15th Oct
** Final Award event where winners will be awarded in-front of a live audience 17th / 19th Oct
