Indian Robot Olympiad IRO 2015:
ndian Robot Olympiad (IRO) is one of the largest Robotics competition in India for students between the age group of 9 to 21, held since 2006. It is a not-for-profit competition organized by India Stem Foundation, an organization focused on bringing Science and Technology based learning solutions for students with the intervention of Robotics.
IRO is the Indian Chapter of World Robot Olympiad that provides a unique platform for students to showcase their talent and creativity and represent INDIA at the international level.
How does IRO work?:
** Schools, Colleges and individuals are invited to enter a team of two or three students to participate in this competition and are categorized according to their age groups. Teams can participate in regular or open category.
** Participating teams need to create, design and build Robots using LEGO Mindstorms NXT/EV3 to solve pre-defined missions.
** Provide students up to the age of 25 an opportunity to expand their horizons through exploration of Robots and Robotic systems in the school.
** Introduce the concept of modern science into schools & colleages educational activities using ICT and technology.
** Provide an opportunity to promote creative thinking, improve communications and cooperation skills, strengthen the ability to acquire new knowledge, highly relevant towards progressive education.
Registration Details:
Registration Fee :
1. Regular Category – Rs. 5,500/-
2. Open Category – Rs. 8,500/-
3. WRO Gen II Category – Rs. 6,500/-
Age Group Details:
Please refer to the below for age Criteria definition:
1. Elementary (Primary) School Age: Participants up to 12 years old in the year of competition.
2. Junior High (Middle) School Age: Participants 13 – 15 years old in the year of competition.
3. High (Secondary) School Age: Participants 16 – 19 years old in the year of competition.
4. WRO GEN II Football: Participants 10 – 19 years old in the year of competition.
Note:
** It is strictly enforced that students cannot be older than specified in the Age Group Definition and will not be allowed to participate in the International Final.
** Students younger than the age group definition have to obtain permission from the Organizer for participation in the national and international final and may only be approved if at least one other team member has the correct age.
** If all members of a team are younger than required, then team must participate in the corresponding competition.
** Participants are not confined to school-going students. Anyone can participate in the corresponding age groups except for participants in the College Regular Category who MUST be either High School or undergraduate students.
Checklist of information you need to register a team:
** Team name (cannot be changed)
** Region selected once for event participation cannot be changed.
** Information entered by you would be used as it is, for further IRO purposes like certification, attendance, awards etc. So you are requested to fill the information with correct and desired capitalization.
** Any team or individual cannot participate in more than one regional competition.
** A coach can mentor multiple teams but a team member cannot be in more than one team.
** Please do not create duplicate teams.
** We highly recommend that only the team coach should enter the complete and correct info for team registration. Kids should not be allowed to do the data entry, as to avoid the typos and to obtain correct info for the certificates.
** Coach´s e-mail address : all the IRO updates will be send to you on this email ID only.
Registering a team is a nine step process:
** Enter your Details.
** Activate the Team by visiting the system generated link on your registering email.
** Log in to your Dashboard.
** Create your team by clicking on “ADD TEAM” option.
** You can register one or more teams in this same panel.
** Enter your team details.
** Make Payment.
** Update Payment Info.
** Add Members and Coach details.
