Win a Merci Vegan Bag Contest :
** Most of us women carry a bag every day of our lives. It’s where we keep our valuables and whatever we need to get through the day.

** Thanks to chic companies such as Merci, whose motto is “compassion through fashion”, the market is full of vegan leather bags that look good and aren’t a product of cruelty to animals.
** To celebrate animal-friendly accessories, the company is giving away a Rosina tote bag– which comes with a matching sling bag –to the three entrants who give the most compelling answers to this question: Why will compassion never go out of fashion?
** The three compassionistas who most inspire us with their explanations of why cruelty-free fashion isn’t a fad will turn heads with blue, orange, or grey tote bags over their shoulders.
** This vegan arm candy completes any outfit and sends a message of non-violence.
** Each year, the leather industry kills more than a billion animals for their skins globally. In India, cows’ and buffaloes’ throats are typically cut in full view of other cattle, who watch and wait in terror.
** Some cows’ legs are hacked off while they’re still conscious, and some endure the agony of being skinned alive .
** Cattle aren’t the only animals killed to make leather for the fashion industry: dogs in China are beaten and killed to produce leather gloves, belts, jacket collar trim, and other items.
** Of course, no label says “dog skin”, so unsuspecting consumers around the world don’t know who they’re wearing when they purchase these items.
** Leather production also damages the planet: toxic run-off from tanneries pollutes groundwater with high levels of lead, cyanide, and formal dehyde.
** Cruelty-free is classic. With vegan brands such as Merci on the market, it’s easy to fill your wardrobe with looks that last and don’t cost animals their lives.
