SPACE will celebrate WSW in October 2015:
SPACE will be conducting some exciting programmes through the month of October for its associated schools and enthusiasts in India to join in the largest celebration of public space event.

SPACE encourages everybody to celebrate WSW all the way upto the 3rd week of October.
SPACE invites you to join us in the following:
Organise any Astronomy Event:
** We recommend our associated schools to hold any WSW-themed activities in during the month of October, and submit a report online at the SPACE website which will be then compiled bearing the school’s name and sent to the World Space Week team at the UN. Interschool Online Painting Competition:
** SPACE invites you to join the online interschool painting competition on the theme ‘Discover space’.’ This competition is organised only for our associated schools. Children from all classes are invited to join in the celebration with colours, and paint their imagination on canvas. They are requested to submit their entries directly, without any prior registrations. For more details, click on the next tab.
‘Space and Astronomy Talks – SAT’:
** Join us on off-beat discussions on astronomy and space sciences from guests around the world and get to know the latest in the field. The sessions will be conducted through Google Hangouts. Details will be updated in this corner. NO registrations are required to join the online sessions.
To participate we request our associated schools to register their event(s). SPACE will register all such events on the WSW website. All registered participants will be given a certificate once they submit a completed REPORT. See ‘Registration’ tab.
About World Space Week:
World Space Week (WSW) is the largest annual space event worldwide with 1,400 events in more than 80 countries. It is an exciting international astronomical event organized by the United Nations General Assembly from 4-10 October every year.
These dates commemorate two historic events:
4 October, 1957 marks the launch of the first human-made Earth satellite, Sputnik 1.
10 October, 1967 marks the signing of the Treaty on Principles governing the activities of states in the exploration and peaceful uses of outer space.
SPACE is glad to organise and annual WSW Interschool Painting competition for students at primary and middle level from our associated schools only. Entries should be submitted as the scans of the paintings or as clicked images of the paintings. Painting submission starts from 5th October 2015 & can be submitted till 28th October 2015.

Theme: ‘Discovering space’
Categories:
Group I: I to III
Group II: IV and V
Group III: VI to VIII
Group IV: IX to XII
Let your imagination soar! Visualise new planets, asteroids and blackholes; think of settlements and colonies in space, imagine aliens. Draw any of these!
Award categories:
1st, 2nd & 3rd place winner in each category, which will be announced on the SPACE website on 6 November, 2015. Prizes will be given at the SPACE Annual Meet to be held in December 2015.
Most Popular :
There is also a special category ‘Most Popular’ for the painting that receives the maximum number of likes on Facebook, either on our official account or on the participant’s personal account, with the hashtags #WSW2015 and #SpaceIndia. All participants will receive participation certificates by SPACE.
Terms & Conditions:
** Only one painting per student will be accepted.
** There are no limits to the number of paintings that can be submitted by a school
** Painting should be scanned or photographed with high resolution (200 dpi or better)
** Original painting should be on A-3 size paper sheet.
** Any coloring medium can be used, however no computer generated paintings will be accepted (eg. using software such as Illustrator)
** All the entries submitted will become SPACE property. Further, it can be used anywhere by SPACE.
** Paintings will be judged on the basis of originality, technique, style, composition and imagination as well as relevance to theme.

A separate registration for each event is requested. All events will be registered by SPACE on WSW website.
