Footballers rarely earn their stripes in stadiums. Their journey almost always begins on the streets where their main obstacles are not the opposing defenders but the hard gravel, sweltering heat and blinding dust. The final task isn’t to beat the goalkeeper, but to disprove anything or anyone who tells you that you’ll remain in the street, and not make it to the stadium.

But that’s how legends are made. Just ask Pele, Alfredo Di Stefano or Neymar Jr. Neymar Jr’s journey started with a street and a dream, and continues with a stadium and a fairytale. Combining his love for street football and freestyle, Neymar Jr uses his dazzling talent to light up stadiums wherever he goes. Now it’s your turn.

About the Tournament:
What do the numbers 5, 10 and 11 have in common? They’re all crucial to the exciting Neymar Jr’s Five competition. Two teams of 5, sans a goalkeeper, have 10 minutes to strut their stuff and impress Barcelona’s number 11.

The twist in this exciting affair is that for each goal scored by a team, a member of the opposition will have to leave the field. The team with the most goals at the end of 10 minutes wins.

Teams from six cities are set to play their hearts out to represent the country in Brazil, in an attempt to bring glory to the land, as we begin the Corporate Leg of the tournament in India.

What is Neymar Jr’s Five?:
Quite simple, Neymar Jr’s Five is the most unique five-a-side football competition out there. Two teams of five have 10 minutes to try and outdo each other on the turf. But wait, there’s a twist! For every goal scored, the captain of the scoring team will ask a player of the conceding team to leave the field, making Neymar Jr’s Five an intense battle of skill and survival. The team with the most goals at the end of 10 minutes or the one with the most number of players still left in the field of play is the winner.

Sounds baller. When and where does it kick off?:
The main leg of Neymar Jr’s Five has concluded and the corporate leg will kick off across the country from January 29 to February 4. The six cities that’ll host the corporate leg are Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Gurgaon.

Who can participate?:
Football fanatics with a valid corporate ID can participate. Participants under the age of 25 as on January 1, 2016 are free to try their hand (and legs) in this one-of-a-kind tournament. A maximum two players in each team can be over the age of 25.

How do I register?:
Use the above form to register your team. Registration for each venue closes three days before the event so make sure you get the ball rolling soon.

Is this only for boys?:
No way! We encourage all female footballers out there to participate. Plus, Abby Wambach of the US National Football Team holds the world record for international goals for both female and male footballers, with an incredible tally of 184 goals. Who said football is only a man’s game?

Is it okay if we have three men and three women in our team?:
Yes, absolutely. Football and fun don’t discriminate. However, we can’t guarantee that you’ll face teams with a similar mix. You may face an all-boys, all-girls or mixed team, depending on the draw.

Can I have more than five people in my team?:
Each team is allowed to have a total of six players. Substitutions can only occur between matches, unless a player picks up an injury. However, no substitution can happen without the consent of the referee.

What if I can’t find a team?:
Where there’s a will there’s a way! We’re sure some of your friends and family members will be kicked about participating in this one-of-a-kind tournament. Remember, the world’s best players were just a part of the crowd at first.

What does the winner of Neymar Jr’s Five get?:
Besides a shiny trophy, the winners of the competition will represent India at the Neymar Jr’s Five finals in Brazil in 2017, and also get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet the man himself – Neymar Jr!
