Engineering Talent Search Examination :
Purpose :
There are a number of Talent Search Examinations at school level e.g. 4 th scholarship, 7 th scholarship,, Maharashtra Talent Search Examination (MTSE), National Talent Search Examination (NTSE), KVPY, Various Olympiads, Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) etc. But there is no Talent Search Examination at Engineering Level. Apart from regular University examinations, Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is the only Technical competency examination available for engineering students. But GATE is an entrance examination for admission to Post graduate courses.

In that sense it is NOT a Talent Search Examination. At Diploma level, there is NO Talent Search Examination. Engineering Talent Search Examination (ETSE) clearly fills this vacuum. ETSE is the first of its kind of examination to be conducted in India at Diploma and Degree level both. Obviously the very purpose of any Talent Search Examination is to identify the talent at an early stage. We also want to identify and promote the young talent at an early stage. No doubt you can prove your technical competence in your Diploma/B.E./B.Tech examinations but then most of these exams are subjective in nature and you appear one subject at a time.

Since ETSE is a Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) based exam, it is totally objective in assessment and it tests you in many subjects at a time. ETSE is NOT expected to and cannot substitute your regular Diploma/B.E./B.Tech exams, it fine tunes your technical competence. You appear for any campus placement written test, higher education entrance test (GATE/GRE/CAT/CMAT etc) you need to face questions on General English, Quantitative Aptitude and Logical Reasoning. Since ETSE tests you in those areas also, you are better prepared for campus placement written test and other entrance tests.

Eligibility :
Any student of Diploma / Degree in Engineering can appear for ETSE. In other words, first to final year all students of Degree in Engineering and first to final year all students of Diploma in Engineering can appear for ETSE. Eligible branches have been divided into branch groups. All the details of branch groups have been given under the topic Branch Groups.

Structure Of ETSE :
Engineering Talent Search Examination (ETSE) is a 2 hours online test for all the students (Degree and Diploma). ETSE would be conducted on 21 st February 2016 at all the locations. Exam cities and centers would be announced later. Most likely you would get your college as exam center. ETSE consists of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) with only one correct answer, 50 technical and 50 non technical. Each correct answer is awarded +1 mark and 0.25 mark is deducted for wrong answer. That means ETSE is a 100 marks test for all the students. Syllabus of ETSE is given under the heading Syllabus.

Registration Process :
Registration for ETSE can be done in 2 phases.

First Phase :
You need to register for FREE on etse.in with your 10 digit Mobile Number and your E – Mail ID.

Second Phase :
In second phase, you need to fill up the complete application form for ETSE, upload your photo and signature. Registration will be complete only after you make payment of exam fees. Exam fees if Rs. 500/- (Rs. Five Hundred only) for Degree students and Rs. 300/- (Rs. Three Hundred only) for Diploma students. Please remember that your candidature for ETSE would not be considered if you do not pay fees before the last date. There are 2 modes of payment. First is scratch cards and second is online payment. Scratch cards are available at various locations. You would get a secret code in scratch card and with this code you can complete the registration process. Once your registration is complete and your payment is received at our end, you would get ETSE Registration Number. In all the future communication with ETSE, please mention your ETSE Registration Number. Once you submit application, you cannot edit any information. Hence please read your application carefully before you submit your application.

Training :
All the Prize winners except Consolation Prizes in Engineering Talent Search Examination (ETSE) would be eligible to participate in Training Workshops. These Workshops would be conducted in summer vacations. This training will be non technical in nature and would be FREE to the toppers. Training would be of one week duration and tentative location of the Training Workshop is Pune. There would be no charges to the students for Training. If you individually avail these Trainings outside, you would spend thousands. Idea of the Training Workshops is that if a Degree student attends Training Workshops in all the 4 years, then this would help him in getting the job. Also this training would help him perform better in his job. Syllabus of Training Workshops has been carefully designed by Academicians, Persons working for long years in Industry and training experts. Syllabus of training is different for all the years. Best part of the Training Workshops is that of final year participants of Degree / Diploma would be offered placement guarantee.

2. You appear for any campus/off campus placement written test; you will find a mix of technical and non technical Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) in the test. Your B.E./B. Tech exams have their own limitations. Many a times we find that many good academic performers are not able to clear the written tests in campus placement. 3. You appear for any post graduation entrance test i.e. GATE/GRE/CAT/CMAT/MBA-CET/SNAP etc., you have to face questions exactly on the pattern of ETSE. When you prepare for ETSE then directly/indirectly you prepare for these exams. Since most of these exams are computer based, ETSE gives you the feel of computer based test in an examination hall environment.

4. When you appear for your class test, your competition is with your classmates/college mates. When you appear for B.E./B.Tech examinations, your competition is with students of that particular University. But when you finish your B.E./B.Tech and step into the industrial world, you have to face global competition. Since ETSE is conducted across colleges / Universities, it prepares you to face global competition right from your first year in Engineering. Creating competitive feeling at global level is perhaps one of the finest virtues of ETSE.

Scratch Cards :
Exam fees can be paid by Registration cards or online payment. Online payment mode would be introduced shortly. Scratch cards are available at various locations. The list of all locations is given here. You can purchase scratch card from any of the locations and complete the Registration process. Scratch cards can be purchased for cash only. Degree Scratch cards are available for Rs. 500/- and Diploma Scratch cards for Rs. 300/- only. Diploma Scratch cards cannot be used for Degree and vice versa also not possible. Once purchased, Scratch Cards cannot be returned back and Money once paid would not be refunded under any circumstances. Three wrong attempts at entering Scratch Card Code would lock your account. Please do not purchase the Scratch Cards if you get cards in tempered condition or Code is visible on the Card. Any complaint would not be entertained on this issue later.
