Crescendo Contest :

The Calcutta School of Music is organizing the much awaited contest “Crescendo VIII” to be held from 3 July to 11 July 2017.

The competition preliminaries will be in the categories of Western Classical (Piano, Violin and Guitar, Western Popular (Solo Vocals), Western Rock Guitar (Solo) and Western Band. The Indian section will include competitions in Khayal only.

The preliminaries will be held from 3 July to 11 July 2017 from 3:00 pm onwards at the Sandre Hall at 6B Sunny Park, Kolkata 700 019. The finals will be held on Sunday 30 July at ICCR, 9A Ho Chi Minh Sarani, Kolkata 700071. CRESCENDO 2017

Rules and Regulations :
Categories:
** Piano, Violin, Classical Guitar, Western Solo Vocals, Western Non Classical
** Guitar (Solo), Western Band and Hindustani Classical Vocals

Age Groups :
Junior: Class 3 to 6
Intermediate: Class 7 to 10
Senior: Class 11 and above till the age of 22 years

Children being home-schooled are welcome to participate in the competition.

** Piano – Junior, Intermediate & Senior
** Violin – Junior, Intermediate & Senior
** Guitar – Junior, Intermediate & Senior
** Western Vocals( Solo) – Junior, Intermediate & Senior
** Non Classical Guitar (Solo) – Intermediate & Senior
** Western Band – Intermediate & Senior
** Indian vocals – Junior, Intermediate & Senior

Rules and Regulations:
Each registration must be accompanied by an entry fee of Rs 200@entry to be made in favour of The Calcutta School of Music or in cash as well.

Western Section:
Though candidates are free to make their own selection for the piece to be performed, it is expected that they will adhere to a basic minimum standard as follows:

** Junior section – At least Grade 4 level or above
** Intermediate Section – At least Grade 6 level or above
** Senior Section – Grade 8 or above where the grades approximately conform to the standard grade as indicated by the syllabi of ABRSM, Trinity College London or London College of Music Boards.
** Last date of entry is 30th June 2017. Only the first 45 entries for each category (inclusive of all age groups) will be accepted for participation in the Crescendo contest.
** If there are less than two entries for a particular age group in a category, then preliminary selections will not be held for that age group in that category.
** Candidates MUST present an identity card of their academic institution during the preliminary round to verify their class.
** For the voices category time limit of performance: 4 – 5 minutes

Other Information :
** Three finalists from each category and age group will be selected in the preliminary round to be held from 3rd to 11th July 2017.
** These finalists will be required to perform at the finals to be held at ICCR on 30 July.
** Trophies and certificates will be given to all winners
