5th India International Deaf Film Festival :

The 5th India International Deaf Film Festival proposed to be held on 11th & 12th December 2017, at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Kolkata, West Bengal, is open for registration and submissions of films in the category of film length in 1-minute, 5, 15 and 30-minutes duration.

The films can be creative and follow genres like documentary, experimental, international, drama, action, horror, comedy, romance, sci-fi, college / school student film etc.

The films screed has to be either scripted, created, performed, produced and directed by the deaf and hard for hearing with help from sponsors. This year the hearing film makers were included but with the criteria of silent movie and the element of the deaf in the film to better understand the films.

West Bengal is known for taking Indian cinema to the global attention predominantly by the film directors Jamshed Framji Madan, Mrinal Sen , Hiral Sen, Satjait Ray, Chidananda Das Gupta and many others. The silent era had popular films namely Jamai Babu, Bilet Pherat, Giribala and Billwamangal.

Note: The registration fee includes Kit, Tea and Lunch at the venue for screening of films at venue.

Food :
** The registered Film screening participants are provided Lunch.
** The film ticket holders (Observer) can avail the canteen facilities at the venue.

Accommodation :
** There is no Free Accommodation for film screeners or observers.
** Participants will be given guidance of addresses and web site IDs for accommodation at hotels / hostels / Guest house.
** The organizers will take request for bookings.

General Rules :
** Film selections for the Festival will be done by a specially constituted jury.
** All filmmakers will be notified of acceptance via e-mail as soon as possible.
** If the ownership of a work is transferred to a successor after the selection has been made, the successor’s permission is necessary for the film to take part in the competition.
** All communication in this regard must be conveyed to the organizing team.
** The attendance of the filmmakers at the Festival is not mandatory, but we would be happy to welcome you at the festival and will offer free festival passes to all filmmakers with films in competition.

The Festival Founder Director shall have the final say on all issues pertaining to the Festival. Decisions on the registration fee and prizes awarded shall be final. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the venue of screening at 5th IIDFF 2017.

Please note: Film submissions without the above details in table will not be accepted for prescreening

Subtitles / Voices :
Subtitles with Voices or without Voices are required for all dialogues and captions since the audience will include those with Deaf and hearing.

Posters:
All posters must be designed in “A3 size or W:3.15 ” x H:5.725 ” (or) W:80.0 mm x H:111.0 mm [Portrait]” and send in JPEG file format.

** One-Sheet Art – Posters (in .PDF / .jpeg format)

** Film synopsis (100 in words in Microsoft Word) and all printed materials pertaining to the film (Microsoft Word or scanned and .jpeg format).
** 2 Screener copies – burnt on pen drive / cloud (to provide ID) / DVD or CD (in PAL / NTSC Format)

Notification of Acceptance for screening the film
Date of notification to the screener: 10th November 2017.
