Innovative Projects competition for school students :
Innovation is an integral part of the progress and developments in the world. To support the growing demand of the culture of innovation in the world, Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai has opened a new facility titled ‘Innovation Hub’ at the Centre. Students get opportunity to try their innovative ideas at the Hub. As an annual event of the innovation hub, the Centre is organizing ‘Innovation Festival’ during January 29 – 31, 2016.
A section of this festival will be ‘Innovative Project Competition’ for students from Grade 8 to 10. We hereby invite two innovative projects from a school to participate in the competition. The project could be an innovative 3D model or any innovative research based project /process / method developed by the students.
The project can be Individual or by a team of maximum three students. The factor of innovation is expected to be there. The students are requested to send summary / synopsis of their project (max 500 words) along with diagram/sketch, if necessary. The format for sending entry and general guidelines is attached herewith. Top ten projects will be shortlisted and invited to participate in the competition during Innovation Festival. The teams will get the opportunity to exhibit their innovative projects/ models to the visitors of the Festival.
The prize structure for the competition is as follows:
First Prize: Rs. 2500/- & Trophy
Second Prize: Rs. 2000/- & Trophy
Third Prize: Rs. 1500/- & Trophy
Encouragement Prize (2 No): Rs.1000/- for each project & Trophy
You are kindly requested to nominate two innovative projects from your school. The last date for sending the entry in the given format is October 15, 2015. The shortlisted participants will be informed about their participation latest by November 30, 2015. You are requested to encourage the students to come up with innovative models/projects and participate in the activity. With your support and guidance the students will certainly contribute in the progress of Nation. General Guidelines :
1. Eligibility: Students from Classes VIII to X are eligible
2. Team: Maximum three (03) students + 1 guide teacher (Only students will compete)
3. No. of Teams from one school: Two projects from one school
4. About the project:
The project can be innovative 3 D model/ research based project / process/ method.
5. How to participate:
The entries for the competition are to be sent through school in the prescribed format duly signed by the head of the institute latest by 15th October 2015.
For preparing summary of the project (maximum 500 words) following format may be followed:
a) Title of the project/ model
b) Material used & cost
c) Description of the project
d) Diagrams & sketches, if necessary.
6. Project Judgment criteria:
** The important factor of judgment will be the extent of innovativeness, creativity and originality in the project
** The relevance of the model/project in the current context
** The technical skill
** Quantum of work involved in the work.
** Team work, wherever applicable
7. Top ten projects will be shortlisted and will be informed by November 30, 2015. These projects will be invited to participate in the Innovation Festival during January 29 – 31, 2016.
