Bird Photography Contest :
The Bird Photography competition is being held as an event under the 2nd Bird Festival of Goa, 2018 and is organized by the Goa Bird Conservation Network.

1. This contest is open to all
2. The photographs, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the Contest entrant.
3. Each participant may submit a maximum of 2 entries and must be captioned.
4. EXIF information for the image must be intact to prove the date taken.
5. Images must be submitted with no borders and also no watermarks. All submitted images must be minimum 1024 pixel on the long side. The images are to be mailed on gbcn[AT]gmail.com.
6. The file name has to be in the following format e.g. Ravi Desai_Shikra
7. The details of the photographer (Name, contact No. & email id), location, date, time and caption is to be written on the back of the print.
8. All entries must be original (must show original RAW or JPG image file). Optimization of images or colour correction, color contrast, brightness is acceptable, as is cropping. Digital manipulation that distorts the reality of the images will not be allowed.
9. The entries are non-returnable. Participants retain the copyright of the photographs submitted. However, the entries may be used or reproduced by the organizers for promotional and educational purposes and Photo credits will be acknowledged.
10. Last Date for Submission of entries will be at 5.30 pm on the 20th December 2017
11. BEST PHOTOS will be printed in A3 photo print and exhibited by the organizers at the Bird Festival venue.

2nd Bird Festival of Goa, 12-14 January, 2018 :
Goa Forest Department will hold the 2nd Bird Festival of Goa from 12-14 January, 2018 at Eco Tourism Complex of Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary. There will be talks by prominent ornithologist, workshops by professional photographers, and artists, guided birding trips and a first of its kind pelagic birding trip.
There will a photo exhibition featuring some of the best works of different photographers, art works and a special workshop on Origami.

* The Nature/ Bird watching trails shall be arranged at Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary / Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary and the participants shall be taken on different trails by rotation.

COTIGAO WILDLIFE SANCTUARY :
Main venue of the Bird Festival is located at the Eco Tourism Complex, Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary, Haatipal (near Poinguinin), on the main road to Cotigao village.
How to get there:
Nearest rail head: MARGAO (Konkan Railway & South Central Railway), Distance 37 Km
Near airport: Dabolim Airport Goa, distance 83 Km.
By Road : One can reach by road from Panaji/ Margao and Karwar through NH17 (Goa Mangalore Highway). Local buses ply between Panaji , Margao and Canacona and Karwar, too.

Taxi Services :
There are plenty of local taxi services in the area to help you on your way to the Bird Festival venue, most of which can be availed from Hotels, Airport , Railway Station & Major Bus stand.
What to Bring :
Expect sunny weather but be prepared for chilly mornings and evenings. Wear sturdy footwear and lightly layered clothing. Binoculars are essential for birding! Spotting scopes, cameras, and bird field guides are optional, but recommended for your enjoyment.
