Nandha Engineering College GENESIS 2K’18 Competitions

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) was established in the year 2001 with the vision of developing the department as a Centre of Excellence in Research and Development.

The main focus is to make the students blossom into meritorious and self-disciplined engineers by smart work. Every facet of life today is associated with electronics in one way or other. Either it is computer (Hardware) or Communication (Multimedia) or a control, Electronics serves as the link.

The exciting world of electronics needs very good mathematical background and also an analytical mind. The opportunities in electronic field are countless such as Application developers, system engineers, integrators and information technology.

Mobile telephony has shrunk the world. Hazardous situations can be handled safely with electronics with robots for disposing bombs, handling the wastes and precision operations.

Subjects on Digital Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Fuzzy logic and Neural Networks, VHDL and VLSI, Digital Communication, Embedded System, Microprocessors, Micro Controllers and Microwaves are studied as part of the course.

The laboratories on Electron devices, Electronic circuit, Communication, Microprocessor and Interfacing, Digital Signal Processing, Analog and Digital integrated Circuits, Digital and fiber optic communication cater the needs of ECE students.

List of Competitions

Paper Presentation

1. A team may consists of two members (min 2)
2. The duration is 5 min, in that presentation will be of 4 min and last 1 min will be queries.
3. Before presenting you should submit your ppt ( hard copy and soft copy ), and the abstract 1 copy

Circuitrix

1. It will be a individual participation
2. There will be a prelims in this event.
3. The selected members will be called for the further rounds

Short Film

1. A team may consist of max upto 6 members
2. The participating team should make their short film and they should upload it in the youtube and send its url to the mail id ecegenesis2k18 [AT] gmail.com
3. The film duration can prolong to the max of 15 min
4. 3. The soft copy should be given on date of event

Googling

1. It will be a individual participation
2. There will be a prelims in this event.
3. The selected members will be called for the further rounds
4. The ques will be both from technical (40%) and non-tecnical (60%)

Robo Race

Robot Specifications :
1) The maximum dimension of the robot can be 30 x 30 cm (l x b).
2) The robot may be wired or wireless.
3) The length of the wire (for wired bots) should be long enough to cover the whole track and wire should remain slack during the complete run.
4) Max weight must not exceed 6 kg.
5) The power supply will be provided maximum up to 24Volt.
6) Readymade toys car are not allowed.

Rules & Regulations :
1) This is racing event so fastest and most balanced robot will win.
2) Robot should be as per the given specifications.
3) Each team can have maximum four members. Students from different institutes can form a team. Track width is 50 cm.
4) The track surface and course line may have unevenness.
5) There might be abrupt angles, but these will not exceed 30 degrees.
6) There will be certain obstacles in the race track which will try to slow down the robot.
7) Arena will consist of switch gate, speed breakers, marble pit, slippery path, rotating disc, curve ramp down, seesaw, balloon pit, slotted ramp etc.
8) The competition is based on time trail system. There will a qualifying round for each team.
9) The top team from qualifying round makes it to the final round on basis of time trials.
10) Three hand touches are allowed with penalty of 10 seconds. For each hand touch, penalty time will be added further to overall time required by robot for completion of specified round.
11) Machine must not contain any readymade kits, pneumatic &hydraulic systems, IC engines.

Mat Race

1. A team may consist of min 2 to max 4 members
2. A team may consist of a maximum of 4 members. Students from different educational institutes can form a team.
3. Any student with a valid identity card of their respective educational institutes is eligible to participate.
4. Teams are not allowed to replace parts between runs. They are, however, allowed to replace defective sensors, but with a minus points added to it.
5. Change of batteries and modifications to the code are allowed but the game play has to be restarted.
6. If the robot is manually touched except at the start, then it will be considered as a violation and will lead to minus points.
7. The line to be traced (black line) is of 30mm in width
