Architectural Planning & Design Competition :
The BRIHANMUMBAI MAHANAGAR PALIKA invites the individual entries for the Competition of Architectural Planning and Design of community toilet blocks.
The end date for the submission of drawings will be 01/01/2016.
The awards for the best entries will be as under:
1) Best architectural planning and design for community toilet block – Rs. 51000/-
2) Best Colour scheme – Rs. 25000/-
3) Best M.C.G.M. toilet logo design – Rs. 25000/-
Important Dates:
The start date for submission of drawings will be 16 /11/2015.

Competition details :
Competition for architectural planning, design and colour scheme of 20 seated G + 1 community toilet blocks constructed under Slum Sanitation Programme of M.C.G.M. and logo design for the toilet blocks constructed by M.C.G.M.
Terms & Conditions :
The competition will be held into 2 categories; namely,
i) Category ‘A’ comprising of conceptual planning, architectural planning and asthetical planning of the toilet blocks with 20 seats, 2 urinals, separate entrance for males and females. This will carry a prize of Rs. 51000/- + Certificate of Appreciation for the best selected entry. Category ‘A’ also includes colour scheme for the so designed toilet block which will carry separate prize of Rs. 25000/- + Certificate of Appreciation. There are no second, third or consolation prizes for this category.
ii) Category ‘B’ consists of logo design for toilet blocks constructed by M.C.G.M. This will carry a prize of Rs. 25000/- + Certificate of Appreciation. Only one best entry will be given prize for this category.
iii) Entries will be individual.
iv) Eligibility criteria for category ‘A’ above:
a) Students above age 18 years of various architectural colleges in India can participate in category ‘A’. They shall submit self attested copy of college ID card with photo identity, bonafide certificate issued by college and document showing birth date.
b) Practising architects including those working in Government/ Semi Government organisations in India are eligible for category ‘A’. They shall submit self attested copy of valid registration certificate with the council of Architects or local body and copy of document showing photo identity as the case may be. All the documents shall be self attested.
c) In case of name change, participant shall submit copy of marriage certificate or gazetted copy of document showing name change.
d) The participants in Category ‘A’ shall have to participate for both the sub categories i.e. for architectural planning and colour schemes. The Specifications for Architectural planning, designing are mentioned in clause
2.1.1. The specifications for colour scheme are mentioned in clause :
v) Eligibility criteria for category ‘B’ above: Category ‘B’ i.e. logo design for the toilet blocks constructed by M.C.G.M., is kept open to all citizens of Mumbai above the age of 18 years. Participants shall submit selfattested copy of document mentioning birth date. In case of name change, participant shall submit copy of marriage certificate/ gazetted copy of document showing name change. All participants shall also submit copy of document showing photo identity.
vi) The participants can participate in one or both the categories i.e. ‘A’ and/ or ‘B’ simultaneously. Only one entry per person in each category will be eligible.
vii) The drawings and designs shall be submitted in separate sealed envelopes for category ‘A ‘and ‘B’. The envelopes for each category shall be submitted with 2 copies of forwarding letter as given in format 1 addressed to the Dy. Chief Engineer (Slum Sanitation Programme).
The participant shall clearly write all the details on the top of the envelope in the order given below:
a) Participant’s name in Capital letters
b) Contact no. of the participant
c) Type of category in which the participant shall participate
d) Title or description of the category
viii) The drawings and designs in category ‘A’ shall be prepared in AutoCAD format. Final drawings shall be converted to JPEG format and submitted in 3 sets of hard copies duly signed by the participant along with DVD containing the original work files as well as files in JPEG format.
The name of the participant shall be clearly written on the name plate in the corner of right side bottom of each copy.
ix) In category ‘A’, the drawings with detailed dimensions mentioned in mm shall be prepared to the scale 1: 100 in AutoCAD format.
x) The participants in category ‘A’ are required to participate in colour scheme competition also. The entries in Category ‘A’ without colour scheme shall be treated as incomplete. Colour scheme for the toilet block shall be prepared separately for the same structure to the scale of 1:100. It shall be converted to JPEG format and submitted in 3 sets of hard copies duly signed by the participant along with DVD containing files in JPEG format. All the dimensions in drawings shall be mentioned in mm.
xi) In category ‘B’, logo for M.C.G.M. toilets can be designed either manually on paper or using any design software. In hand made logo design, it shall be scanned and converted to JPEG file. It shall be submitted in 3 sets of prints on A4 size paper in JPEG format along with original design on paper. In software generated logo design, it shall be converted to JPEG format and submitted in 3 sets of prints along with DVD containing original work file as well as files in JPEG format. The name of the participant shall be clearly written in the corner of right side bottom of each copy.
xii) All the designs for category ‘B’ shall be as per the terms and conditions given in clause
xiii) The total design and materials suggested for that design in category ‘A’ and ‘B’ shall be easily available, economical and easy for maintenance.
xiv) The entries shall have name plate, signature, description of category i.e. category ‘A’ or category ‘B’. Incomplete entries will be outrightly rejected.
xv) The drawings and designs with following parameters will be given preference:
a) User friendly
b) Environmental friendly
c) Rain water harvesting/ Water recycling
d) Natural light and ventilation
e) Innovative ideas for the seats of physically challenged users
xvi) All the intellectual rights of the drawings and designs submitted by all participants in all categories for the competition shall be the property of M.C.G.M.
xvii) The start date for submission of drawings and designs for the competition will be 16/11/2015.
xviii) The end date for the submission of drawings will be 01 /01/2016. The entries received after the end date and time will be rejected outrightly.
All the drawings, designs shall be submitted on all working days between 11.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.at the office of:

Result:
