Wingword Poetry Competition

Wingword Poetry Competition is a fantastic opportunity for aspiring poets to showcase their talents and creativity. If you have a vigorous zeal for weaving words, this is the right platform for you.

We push our participants to think beyond the ordinary, expand their horizons and passion for writing. Selected poems showcase a fresh and authentic composition, brimming with a vitality of inventive surprises. The poems should have the ability to make us pause and reflect, smile, laugh or even cry. All themes are allowed- family, love, heartbreak, society, history or intricate observations on day-to-day life. It’s your imagination, so let it run wild!

How To Participate?

Step 1: Deposit the entry fee by choosing the number of poems you would like to submit.
Step 2: You will receive a secure submission form via e-mail. You can upload your poems in a Microsoft Word file or simply paste your poems in the online form. Click ‘Submit’ button once you have filled your personal details and poetry.
Step 3: A confirmation e-mail will be sent to you automatically, acknowledging that your entry has been received.

Competition Rules

** The competition is open to all poets around the world.
** Poems must be written in English.
** You must be 16 years and above to participate in the Main Category. If you are younger, please click here to find out about Junior Category.
** Poems must be the original work of the participant.
** Any topic and style of poetry is accepted.
** Poem should be no longer than 2000 words.
** Previously published poems are allowed.
** Entry Fee is Rs. 1000 for one poem, Rs.2000 for three poems and Rs.3000 to submit five poems.
** We encourage beginners to participate. Your writing speaks for itself- if it’s meritorious, your work will be selected!
** Results will be announced on April 30th 2021. Please check the website for the full list of prizewinners.

Prizes

Wingword Poetry Competition distributes a cumulative sum of Rs. 5,00,000 to winners. In addition to receiving cash prizes, winners will be invited to attend Wingword’s prize giving event (subject to government travel restrictions). The winning and commended entries will also be published in the anthology.

** 1st Prize: Rs. 1,00,000 and a book publication deal
** 2nd Prize: Rs. 50,000
** 3rd Prize: Rs. 25,000
** Top 20 Prizes: Rs. 10,000
** 100 Commendable Mentions will also be published in Wingword’s annual anthology
** All participants will receive electronic Certificates of Participation

Award Ceremony

An award ceremony will be held to crown the winners and commemorate the work of all finalists. Winners will be invited to attend the function. The three prize-winners in each category will be asked to read out their poems publicly.

It will comprise a specially designed poetry workshop with a distinguished international educator. The poets will have the opportunity to further train in enhancing their poetry writing skills. Wingword’s prize giving event will take place in New Delhi, India.
