The CBSE Cryptic Crossword Contest 2015 is India’s largest crossword solving championship for school students of India.

The CCCC 2015, is a CBSE challenge initiated for students studying in classes IX to XII, to be coordinated by Extra-C. The contest would be conducted in two phases.

Phase 1-City Round Schedule (May-September):

Inter school contest to be held in select cities during May-September 2015, as per the calendar given below.

Schools located in the vicinity of the designated cities may also participate. School teams consisting of two students solve a written cryptic crossword puzzle in 60 minutes. Winners and the first runner- up teams receive certificates and prizes.

Phase 2-National Round

A two- day event in New Delhi during December 2015.

The quarter final:
A written cryptic crossword puzzle to be solved in 60 minutes by all the participating teams. Top 16 teams qualify for the semi-finals.

The semi-final:
The 16 qualifying teams, placed in 4 groups of four teams each participate in four separate, on-stage cryptic crossword contests of 60 minutes based on in a power-point format.

The final:
Top teams from each semi-final compete in the on-stage final.

Understanding Cryptic Crosswords
