Kerala Tourism intends to organise a Global Pookkalam Competition for people around the world as part of its Onam 2021 celebrations.

The program encourages people (the “participant(s)”) to create Pookkalam (Floral carpet) and submit two photographs of the same under the following categories – Individuals and Institution/Associations.

Who Can Participate?

** The Global Pookkalam Competition (the “Contest”) is open to all individuals, institutions, associations/organisations within Kerala and outside Kerala.
** There is no age limit for this contest.

Competition Period

The Contest begins on August 13, 2021 and will conclude on August 23, 2021 midnight (IST) (“Contest Period”). Both dates are subject to change.

How to Participate?

Steps :
Step 1 : Participants can register with the link: www.keralatourism.org/contest/pookkalam2021/.

Step 2 : Upon successful registration, each participant can sign in using the ‘Log in’ credentials given at the time of registration.
Step 3 : Fill in your basic details here to take part in this exciting contest.

Step 4 : Along with a picture of the pookkalam, please upload the participant’s photograph too (preferably a family photograph).
Step 5 : Each entry must carry a caption and a short description. A maximum of five entries can be uploaded under each category.

Prizes

** Individuals – Within Kerala – Three Winners – I, II and III
** Institutions/Associations – Within Kerala – Three Winners – I, II and III
** Consolation prizes: Total 20 prizes – 10 each

** Individuals – Outside Kerala – Three Winners – I, II and III
** Institutions/Associations – Outside Kerala – Three Winners – I, II and III
** Consolation prizes: Total 20 prizes – 10 each

** Besides, all participants (except those who win the 52 prizes mentioned above) will be given a special ‘Onam Gift’.
** All participants can download their digital Certificate of Participation from the website.

Terms & Conditions

** Each entry should contain two images – 1) a photo of the Pookkalam. 2) Photo of participant (s) with/without family members alongside the Pookkalam, a title and a description.

** Image file must be in .jpg format, having a minimum 1 mb and not exceeding 5 mb in size.
** In case of any technical issues while uploading photos, participants may write to contest [AT] keralatourism.org

** Contest Admin will carry out an initial scrutiny of the uploaded/shared videos. Entries that fulfil all the requirements will be given approval. Entries that violate the Terms and Conditions of the Contest will be summarily rejected.

** Upon successful submission of the entry, participants will get a confirmation email with a link to the published page, which they may share on their social media platforms to garner public support.

** The appreciation received from the public for each entry will also be taken into consideration while evaluating them.
** In case of any fraud or mischief found on the part of the participant,
he/she will be disqualified from this Contest.

** An expert or a panel of experts approved by the Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala, will initially scrutinize the entries as and when received.

** This committee will screen the entries, and select the best 100 among them. However, Kerala Tourism reserves the right to decide the number of entries to be published on the website after screening.

** A judging committee, appointed by Department of Tourism, will decide the winners. Kerala Tourism reserves the right to choose the members of the judging committee.
