ZOOFEST 2015-16 Intercollegiate Competitions :
It gives us immense pleasure in inviting you for our Department Festival “ZOOFEST 2015-16”. In connection with this we are conducting inter collegiate competitions in the field of “Biology and Animal Biotechnology” for the students of both UG and PG.
Events Date : 18.12.2015 (Friday)
This programme will definitely boost the understanding, skill and perseverance of the students in the subjects concerned and also provides greater opportunity for interacting with the students and faculty members of other colleges and institutions. Hence we request you to kindly participate in the programme and extend your fullest cooperation for the successful conduct of theevent.
Events & Rules :
1. Slogan Writing:
A maximum of two entries from an Institution will be allowed. The topic will be announced just before the commencement of the competition.
2. Poster Presentation:
The topic for the poster presentation will be “Genetic engineering and Human welfare”. Size of the Poster is 1 m X 1 m. A maximum of two entries from an Institution will be allowed.
3. Essay competition in English:
Topic of the essay related to “GMOs: Facts and Fictions” / Bionano : Prospects and Consequences” will be announced 15 minutes before the start of the event. The time limit will be 45 minutes. Any number of students can participate.
4. Model:
Models prepared on theme related to “Central Dogma of Protein Synthesis / Bio-resources for energy production” can be displayed. Only two participants and a maximum of two models will be allowed from an Institution. The participants are expected to explain the significance of their models to the visitors.
5. Paper presentation (PG only):
Theme of the paper presentation can be any topic related to “Aqua and Agriculture Biotechnology”. Time limit for presentation is 10 minutes. A maximum of 10 slides are permitted in the form of power point. Candidates are advised to bring the PPTs in a CD.
6. Quiz (UG only):
It is a group event consisting of two members from each college forming one team. There will be five rounds – 1. Biosystematics, 2. Protein Chemistry, 3. Biotechnology Applications, 4. GMOs and Bio-nanotechnology and 5. Current Affairs in Biological Sciences. If required, a preliminary elimination round will be conducted.
