Any candidate applying to SRM B.Tech program are eligible to enter the contest.

Background :

The Essay Contest for 12 standard high school students / equivalent is meant to sensitize and challenge students to discover their transformative powers to develop critical thinking and to become thought leaders, building a great nation. The students can choose any one of the following three topics to write an essay of 700 – 1000 words, and upload.

The Topics are:
** How ‘Make in India’ can succeed
** How to inspire school children to excel in science and technology
** How to make India the best place to be

Recognition and Awards:
The winning entries in each category will be recognized and awarded with a full – tuition – fee scholarship to an undergraduate engineering degree in any institution in India. The scholarship does not include other expenses. They will be honoured with a Gold medal and Certificate during the award winning ceremony. The winning entries will also have the option of directly joining SRM for the B.Tech program of their choice.

Criteria for Judging:
Content (70%): Understanding, Originality, Supportive Evidence, Quality of Writing and Organization

Presentation (30%): Presentation to the Panel of Judges

Selection Process:
The selection committee would shortlist 100 candidates to be invited to SRM in April 2016 for final selection, through a 30 minute panel discussion cum presentation with the judges. . The panel will decide the three winners in each category and announce the results in April.. The decision of panel will be final and binding. The winners will be invited to an award winning ceremony in May 2016.
