What is INIFD Lakmē Fashion Week GenNext Designer Program?
INIFD presents GenNext Designer Program is one of the most coveted designer talent discovery programs globally that has been the launch pad of some of the most sought-after names today in the Indian fashion industry. INIFD’s GenNext Designer Program has established itself as one of India’s most definitive fashion platforms, enabling India to integrate with the global fashion industry. The last date for sending your application is 5th January 2024 .

Eligibility of Lakmē Fashion Week GenNext
** Applicant’s label/company should be under five years in the business.
** Applicants must demonstrate solid work experience at fashion houses/retail stores or in any creative capacity in the fashion industry.
** To qualify, all applicants must present credentials and designs under menswear (ready to wear) or womenswear (ready to wear) categories or both.
Evaluation Criteria of Lakmē Fashion Week GenNext
INIFD presents GenNext Designer Program at Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI is a platform for young Indian designers to conceptualize imaginative, original and thought provoking ‘story based’ collections for a discerning fashion audience in India and globally.
Originality of Concept & Innovation in Design: How creative and unique is the theme/concept/elements of the proposed collection for Lakmē Fashion Week in Partnership with FDCI and the design philosophy of the label
Craftsmanship: The quality of tailoring, detailing and finishing of the collection is expected to be that of high designer quality.
Design Aesthetics: Balance of colours, patterns, prints or embroideries used in the proposed collection.
Clarity of Vision: The level of clarity behind the design philosophy of the label, theme of the proposed collection and execution.
** All applications for Lakmē Fashion Week X FDCI Designer Program are screened and examined by the Lakmē Fashion Week X FDCI Advisory Board
** This board comprises of leading Journalists, Educationists, Designer Store Owners, Buyers, Senior Designers as well as a representative from FDCI, Lakmē & Reliance Brands Limited.
** The board makes the final selection based on the designers’ quality, design, innovation, marketability, originality and ability to legitimately take their business to the next level.
** Overall, a GenNext applicant must showcase clarity in vision for the label through its aesthetic and design philosophy, concept of the proposed collection and execution.
** The GenNext Designer Program is presented by INIFD, an official sponsor at Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI
Application Process of Lakmē Fashion Week GenNext
The Application process essentially entails 2 phases:
1. Phase ONE:
** Submission of Application Form
** You can submit the application form before submitting the PPT
** Submission of PPT for collection
** DO NOT tamper with the presentation format, there is no need for special effects/visuals
** Fill in the power point presentation of 7 slides only with your label information, sketches and pictures of your two constructed sample garments- strictly as per instructions mentioned in the slides – Do not add any extra slides.
** Please adhere to the guidelines on pictures & sketches as mentioned in the template
** Complete PPTs need to be emailed to mehuli.mehta@riseworldwide.in
** Email subject line should be “GenNext – *insert designer label name’’
** Please do not submit physical samples until asked
** Kindly refer to the Guidance note BELOW for submission of presentation and Pictures & Sketches
** Last date for submission of the PPT is 5th January 2024
** On successful completion of both the above steps, the application will be reviewed & the designer will be notified via email.
2. Phase TWO: (If selected in Phase ONE) Submission of physical garments
** The selected applicant to send any 2-3 physical samples from the collection submitted in the presentation
** The selected applicant to physically present their collection to the jury
** The shipping details to courier your garments will be shared via email closer to the jury date
** The designers will be responsible for shipping their garments for the selections
Guidelines To Participate in the Lakmē Fashion Week GenNext
** Designer must submit the presentation & fill the registration form as per the deadline mentioned and the selected designer must proactively participate and fully co-operate with Reliance Brands Limited, FDCI & HUL (the “Organizers”) towards ensuring all the deliverables & timelines are met on time.
** The label should not have launched on any other platform globally.
** The collection submitted should not have been showcased elsewhere, especially on any social media platforms including the designer’s website.
** Designer agrees to submit their original work and avoid any attempt towards plagiarism.
** The shortlisted designers will be screened and examined by a panel of industry veterans on the jury.
** The shortlisted designer agrees to be available for the selection program which would be conducted by Lakmē Fashion Week & FDCI team where the designers will have to make a presentation to the esteemed jury.
** The final selection of GenNext designers will be decided by the esteemed jury based on the designer’s credentials, samples from the forthcoming collection and the presentation.
** The date for the jury round will be informed to you via email.
** In case of a physical jury for final designer selections, the designer(s) will be physically present at the venue to make a presentation to the jury and the travel expenses will have to be borne by the designer(s)
** The selected designer(s) agrees to work closely with the GenNext mentor to create a collection for the upcoming edition of the fashion week.
** The selected designer(s) agrees to be a part of the masterclass, a series of sessions by industry stalwarts on various topics, curated exclusively for the selected GenNext designer(s).
** The selected designer(s) will showcase their collection in a group show at Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI. The show date and time will be informed to you by the organizers.
** The collection should have a minimum of 12-15 ensembles.
** All the costs for the collection to be created will have to be borne by the designer(s)
** The designer(s) have to be physically present for the pre-show model fittings and for showcasing their collections on the dates shared by the Lakmē Fashion Week & FDCI Team.
** The designer(s) agrees to be available for 1 day for Lakmē Fashion Week & FDCI team to shoot exclusive content for the event’s social media handles (including various event sponsor activations).
** Designer(s) need to tag Lakmē Fashion Week, FDCI & INIFD handles on all social media posts related to the show at FDCI x Lakmē Fashion Week.
** It is mandatory for the designer to showcase the forthcoming collection in the Lakmē Fashion Week x FDCI – Showroom. It is also mandatory for the designer to have the collection on display for Buyers (Domestic & International) at the stall designated by the Lakmē Fashion Week & FDCI.
Please note: Nominal stall charges would be applicable.
** The selected designer(s) will not enter into any commercial partnership with other brands and designers for their GenNext showcase at Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI.
