What is IIIT Panini Linguistics Olympiad?

Panini Linguistics Olympiad 2024 is organized by International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad. PLO is a fun, exciting, educational, challenging, puzzling, linguistic competition for students studying in grades 6th to 8th (Juniors) and 9th to 12th (Seniors). This competition helps foster problem solving, computational thinking and appreciation for the linguistic diversity and linguistics in general. Here, You can challenge your mind against puzzles in logic, language and linguistics, from deciphering flower formulae to tracking the evolution of Nna. Last Date of Contest is 10th February 2024.

Eligibility Criteria of Panini Linguistics Olympiad

** If you are enrolled in school, then the category for which you are eligible is determined by the grade in which you are studying. If you are studying in grade 6, 7, or 8, you are eligible to appear for the Junior contest. If you are studying in grade 9, 10, 11, or 12, you are eligible to appear for the Senior contest. However, if you have attended the Invitational Round Camp in any previous year, you can appear only in the Senior contest.

** You must carry an official school photo ID that states your name, school name, and grade in which you are studying (or date of birth), and has a photograph of you.

** If you are not enrolled in school, the category in which you are eligible to participate is determined by your age. Contestants born after 11th February 2011 are eligible for the Junior contest, while those born on or before that date are eligible for the Senior contest. If you have attended the Invitational Round Camp in any previous year, you can appear only in the Senior contest.

** You must carry a government issued photo ID (Aadhaar card, passport, etc.) that states your name, and date of birth, and has a photograph of you.
** Contestants who have represented India at IOL 2023 are eligible for direct entry to the Invitational Round camp, and need not appear for the Round 1 contest.
** Contestants who are not citizens of India are eligible to participate in the Round 1 contest provided they reside in India and are enrolled in a school in India.

Registration Process of Panini Linguistics Olympiad

i) The registration process for PLO 2024 involves 2 steps. You will have to first transfer the registration fees and then fill the Unique Transaction Reference number/transaction number with the rest of the details in the Registration Form.
ii) Registration fees must be paid by online transfer to the PLO account.

iii) Transfer the registration amount of Rs. 1000 to the PLO account, details of which are given below
** While initiating the transfer, enter the string “PLO2024” (all-caps, 7 characters, no spaces) as the comment for the transaction, to ensure we can
** trace your payment. Not completing this step correctly may result in your registration being incomplete.
** If you are transferring from an Axis Bank account, make a note of the transaction number that can be used to identify the payment.
** If you are transferring from an account with a bank other than Axis Bank, transfer the amount using NEFT and make a note of the
** Unique Transaction Reference (UTR) number associated with the NEFT transaction.
** In case your registration fee payment has not been completed, you will be informed, and may complete the payment after appearing for the contest. Your submission will be considered only if the payment is completed.

iv) Fill the registration form with your personal details and the transaction reference number from the step above to complete your registration.

v) Registrations will be verified and roll numbers allotted to each student prior to the contest;
** Please ensure that all the details you provide are consistent with a photo ID (school ID, Aadhaar card, passport, etc.). We may request a copy of this ID to verify details before results are released.
** Please ensure that each detail you fill is doubly checked and is accurate. If we find any discrepancies, the registration will be considered incomplete.

vi) Exam will be fully offline.
