What is Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Competition?

Solve for Tomorrow India 2024 Competition is organized by Samsung. Only candidates who are aged 14–17 for school track and 18–22 years for youth track as on May 31, 2024 of the competition can apply. Individuals or teams of up to five people can apply for the challenge. Applicants must submit an Idea as part of their Entry to School Track or Youth Track. Each Applicant/Team shall submit one (1) Idea only. Last Date of Contest is 31st May 2024.

Categories of Solve for Tomorrow Competition

Entry into the Competition signifies acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
** The Competition is divided under two tracks – School Track (solving for India) and Youth Track (solving for the world).
** The School Track is open for the age group 14-17 years under the Theme “Community and Inclusion” which aims at uplifting underprivileged groups, improving accessibility to health and social inclusion for all.
** The Youth Track is open for the age of 18-22 years under the Theme “Environment and Sustainability” which aims to reduce carbon footprint, protecting environment and promoting sustainability.
** The Competition for each track is divided into four phases with a selection process at each phase, so that only those Applicants who pass a phase can participate in a subsequent phase.

Eligibility of Solve for Tomorrow Competition

1. The Competition is open to Indian nationals aged 14 to 17 years for the School Track and Indian Nationals aged 18-22 years for the Youth Track on the final day of the application period (i.e 31/05/2024). Registration of Applicant between the age group of 14 to 17 can be done by the parent/guardian on behalf of the Applicant. Only individuals meeting all the required terms and conditions can participate and not entities like partnership firms, companies, schools, colleges etc.

2. Teams with members between 14-17 years of age can only apply in the “School Track” under the theme of “Community & Inclusion” and teams with members between 18- 22 years of age can only apply in the “Youth Track” under the theme of “Environment & Sustainability”.

3. Applicant does not need to pay any amount for application.

4. Employees or agents of Samsung or its implementation agencies including Implementation Partner, or any of its group companies or their immediate families or households or anyone professionally connected to the Competition are not eligible to participate.

5. Ideas that are currently receiving funding or support, or which have previously received funding/support of INR 5,00,000 (Indian Rupees Five Lakh only) or above in total (including series of funding) in any manner whatsoever are not eligible to enter.
6. The Competition is open to single individual or teams comprising of up to five (5) individuals in both tracks.

7. The Team Leader (himself/herself/or through the legal guardian, in case of being a minor) shall make an entry on behalf of the Team. Each of the Team Member (including the Team Leader) jointly and severally accept, that the entry is made on their behalf subject to these terms.

8. Each Applicant may only be part of one entry, either on their own or as part of a single team. In other words, an individual cannot participate as more than one Applicant or as members of more than one Team.

9. Each Applicant/Team shall submit one (1) Idea only.
10. Applicants must create their own work, and not copy text, idea, images, audio, or video recordings from third parties. It has to be an original work and not reproduction of work created by others.

How to Apply for Solve for Tomorrow Competition?

** Applicants must submit their Entry by duly and completely filing the Application Form on www.samsung.com/in/solvefortomorrow/ by 17:00 hours (IST) on 31 May 2024 (the “Application Deadline”) under the School Track or Youth Track (as applicable).

** The application for teams under the “School Track” with theme “Community & Inclusion” is separate from application for teams under “Youth Track” with theme “Environment & Sustainability”. Illegible applications with teams that do not match age criteria for the two tracks will be disqualified. Applications by any Team without submitting supporting documents, incomplete applications etc will be disqualified.

Grant of Solve for Tomorrow Competition

Grant for the School Track means and includes:
(A) Grant of INR 20,000 (INR Twenty Thousand only) for Prototype Development per Team for top 10 Teams as shortlisted in the Phase 2 of the Program (School Track);
(B) Grant of INR 1,00,000 (INR One lakh only) for Prototype Enhancement per team to be given to top 5 teams as shortlisted in the Phase 3 of the Program (School Track);
(C) Grant of INR 25,00,000 (INR Twenty-five lakh only) for Prototype Advancement for 1 winner team as selected in Phase 4 of the Program (School track);

Grant for the Youth Track means and includes:
(A) Grant of INR 20,000 (INR Twenty Thousand only) for Prototype Development per Team for top 10 Teams as shortlisted in the Phase 2 of the Program (Youth Track);
(B) Grant of INR 1,00,000 (INR One lakh only) for Prototype Enhancement per Team to be given to top 5 teams as shortlisted in the Phase 3 of the Program (Youth Track);
(c) Grant of INR 50,00,000 (INR Fifty lakhs only) as part of seed and incubation grant for 1 winner Team as selected in Phase 4 of the Program (Youth track)
