What is Youth Climate Conclave Photography Competition?

Youth Climate Conclave 5th Edition Photography Competition 2024 is organized by GIZ, CEEW, and Climate Fresk. We are inviting children and youth in the age category of 10 – 18 years and 19 – 25 years of all backgrounds, regardless of race, gender, physical ability, or any other distinctions across India to participate in the photography competition. Winners will receive e- certificates, a chance to attend the Youth Climate Conclave- 5th Edition. Last date of Contest is 1st October 2024.

Theme of Photography Competition

Theme: Climate Action for the future we want!
Task: Participants are required to submit photographs that capture the essence of positive climate actions in the country, including those by children and youth, related to Climate Change. All submissions should be original thought processes that elicit a positive opinion about how youth can channelize their energy and drive transformative impact in society.

Who can Participate in the Photography Competition?

Category A: 10 – 18 years
Category B: 19 – 25 years
** Entries can be submitted in the age categories as follows:
a. 10 to 18 years
b. 19 to 25 years
** Children and youth in the above category of all backgrounds, regardless of caste, race, gender, physical ability, or any other distinctions across India are eligible to participate in the photography competition.
** Last date to apply for the competition is October 1, 2024.

Youth Climate Conclave 5th Edition Photography Competition

Guidelines for Photography Competition

** Participants are limited to submitting only one entry each. Moreover, for schools and colleges, there is no restriction on the number of students who can apply.
** Each photograph must be accompanied by a captivating tagline of no more than 15 words. Entries lacking title, description, and details will be disqualified.

The following criteria would be used to judge the entries:
a. Resolution
b. Clarity of the photograph
c. Meaningful and impactful

** Photographs will also be screened for plagiarism and directly eliminated if the case comes up.
** Photographs should capture the essence of positive climate actions in the country at individual, local, regional or national level.
** Participants are required to submit an original photograph that expresses their interpretation of the theme. The photograph should convey optimistic and meaningful messages and should not depict doomsday scenarios.
** Only high-resolution (2 MB or more) original photographs will be accepted. The photograph should be necessarily in JPG format with at least 200 dpi at 2,000 pixels.
** Photographs containing obscene, provocative, or objectionable content will not be considered for submission.
** By participating in the competition, the applicant asserts that both the photograph and its accompanying description are original creations, produced exclusively by the applicant, with no other individual or entity holding any rights, title, claim, or interest in either. Any instance of plagiarism will result in the immediate disqualification of the participant from the competition.
** Minor adjustments, including the removal of sensor dust or scratches on scans of negatives, dodging and burning, sharpening, contrast, toning, slight colour adjustment and conversion to grayscale are acceptable. The addition and subtraction of objects is not permitted.
** Please submit the photographs without any copyrights or watermarks. By entering the competition, all applicants grant permission to the organizers to reproduce their photographs in their original or updated form, without any notification, permission, fee or any other form of compensation. Photographs will be credited to the photographer.
** All expenses incurred during shooting process will have to be borne by the participants.
** All shortlisted photographs will be displayed on various social media platforms, and the top 12 photographs will be chosen for inclusion in the YCC 2025 Calendar. Additionally, there will be an exhibition featuring the top 12 photos from both categories.
** Winners will receive e-certificates and a chance to attend the Youth Climate Conclave- 5th Edition and also have a felicitation during the World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS) 2025.
** Jury decision will be final.
